Hispanic Heritage Month

"Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation"

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 through October 15. September 15 is a key date in the history of several Latin American countries. It's when Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua declared their independence from Spain in 1821. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the traditions and history unique to Hispanic cultures, as well as the achievements and contributions of Hispanic Americans.

Learn more at the National Archives - Hispanic Heritage Month.

Advice from the LCCC Learning Specialists

To be successful in college and in life, we need support from others. The idea that anyone can make it on their own in this world is a falsehood. We all need support and assistance from time to time.

If you haven't started it yet at LCCC, start building your connections and strengthening your support networks. Reach out to your professors and classmates. Make yourself known to people in LCCC's support areas. You might not need assistance now, but you might sometime soon.

Looking for more support? Check out this video and reach out here. You can also contact the LCCC Educational Support Services by visiting Science Hall 150, emailing educationalsupportservices@lccc.edu, or calling 610-799-1156.

Mental Health Minutes from the LCCC Counseling Center

Prioritize daily living and hygiene.

Your physical health is an essential part of maintaining and bettering your mental health. Take care of yourself physically, and there's a good chance you'll notice an improvement in how you're feeling mentally. Make the conscious effort to ensure you're adequately taking care of your body. This includes, but is not limited to, getting enough sleep, eating healthy, staying hydrated, and exercising. All of our bodies function differently, so listen to yours and figure out how to balance all these things in a way that works best for you.
