LCCC Celebrates Military Appreciation Days

Join us as we celebrate and honor our military with various events from Monday, April 29, through Sunday, May 5. You don't want to miss end-of-semester snuggles with Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs, the military book display at Rothrock Library and a family friendly military-themed movie night featuring Sgt. Stubby and Top Gun: Maverick. Popcorn, candy and drinks will be included, and all attendees will be entered to win a movie night basket. For details on all events, click here. For questions, contact Laura D'Amato at ldamato@lccc.edu or Erin Vermeulen at evermeulen@lccc.edu.

Mental Health Awareness

The LCCC KEYS Program will host a mental health awareness presentation on Wednesday, May 1, from 1 - 2 p.m. The National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) will present "In Our Own Voice," featuring speakers who provide a personal perspective on mental health conditions as leaders with lived experience talk openly about what it's like to have a mental health condition. The goal of this 40-minute presentation is to change attitudes, assumptions and ideas about people with mental health conditions and provide resources for anyone interested in supporting mental health. The presentation will be held in CSC 201 A/B. Refreshments will be served. You can also join via Zoom.

Cafecito Thursdays in the J.E.D.I. Center

These listening and conversation sessions take place every Thursday morning from 8 - 10 a.m.

Coffee is provided. Join us!

Important Emails Coming Your Way

Don't forget to check your student email regularly, Cougars! With the end of the spring semester fast approaching, there are great enrollment opportunities coming your way for the summer and fall.

Use Pell Grants for Summer Courses

As you're thinking about summer plans, make sure you keep LCCC summer classes at the top of your list. You can stay on track to achieving your goals or get a head start to your degree.

Also, did you know that if you qualify for a Pell grant, you could use those dollars for summer courses? Pell grants are free money that you do not need to pay back.

Full-time students must enroll in at least six credits to be eligible to use their Pell grant. Part-time students can also use Pell dollars.

Five- and ten-week summer sessions begin on Monday, May 20, with an additional five-week session starting on Monday, July 8. Register for classes through the LCCC portal or schedule an appointment with an advisor via the online scheduler.

The website has more information on summer sessions. Check your LCCC student email for important end-of-semester updates. If you have questions about Pell grants or financial aid, contact the Financial Aid Office at 610-799-1133 or finaid@mymail.lccc.edu.

Congratulations to Marie Alexis - Student Employee of the Month

The LCCC Career Development Center is proud to honor Marie Alexis! As a First Year Experience Peer Mentor, Marie helps students wherever she goes. She always has an open mind when interacting with students and staff from different backgrounds and abilities, and endlessly advocates for people of marginalized communities. She gracefully takes on duties assigned to her and initiates projects on her own that inspire and motivate others, including diversity discussions in the J.E.D.I. Center and mentoring students in the SEED Program. We are so lucky to have her as a confident leader and positive role model to our other students. Thank you for all that you do, Marie!

Fall Course Registration is Open!

College Resources, Info and Assistance

Preferred/Chosen First Name and Pronouns

LCCC recognizes that students in our community may use names other than their legal first names to identify themselves.

By sharing a preferred/chosen first name, the individual is agreeing to be referred to by this name in college-related systems (i.e. Banner, Canvas, and Degree Works) and documents as well as email communications, interactions and any processes in which names are used to address an individual, except when the use of the legal name is required by law or the college.

Students can change their preferred name in Self-Service BannerWeb. Detailed instructions are available on the IT Knowledgebase. Changes will be reflected across LCCC systems within 48 hours.

Note: A preferred/chosen first name is not a legal name change. Students who are legally changing their name should follow the instructions here.
