Fall Course Registration Opens on March 18

Registration for fall 2024 will open on Monday, March 18, for all students. Get the classes you need as soon as possible! The course schedule for the fall 2024 semester has been posted to the college website and can be viewed here. Should you need assistance in choosing classes, please reach out to your Academic Advisor, adviseme@lccc.edu or 610-799-1137.

Drop-In Egg Hunt

There are eggs hidden throughout the upper and lower levels of the library, and we need your help to find them! Starting Monday, March 18, through Friday, March 22, in the Rothrock Library, you're invited to join the egg hunt. The search begins at the service desk, where you get a card to collect secret codes by scanning a QR code on each egg. Pick a prize if you find all 15 eggs and enter your name into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card!

Nourish to Flourish

Feeling down? Tired? Have low energy or motivation? Have you considered changing your eating habits? Learn more about how what you eat can boost your energy as well as your mood and mental well-being!


Join us at your preferred campus location for our first presentation in our Spring 2024 Nourish to Flourish Workshop Series.

  • Main Campus: Tuesday, March 19, from 1 - 2 p.m.
  • Tamaqua Campus: Wednesday, March 20, from 1 - 2 p.m.
  • Allentown Campus: Thursday, March 21, from 1 - 2 p.m.


The "Eating for Your Brain" workshop is presented by the LCCC Counseling Center and the Office of Community Resources and Basic Needs. There will be food, gift cards and giveaways for students who preregister, which you can do so here.

ResuMania!

Want to make a great impression on employers at the Job Fair? Stop by the ARC Cafeteria on Wednesday, March 20, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for ResuMania!


Career Specialists will be holding 15-minute speed resume review sessions to help students polish their resume for the big day.


Stop on over; no appointment is needed.

Horticulture Club Plant and Seed Swap

Everyone is welcome to attend on Thursday, March 21, from 12 - 2 p.m. in SH 119, regardless of prior experience with growing plants or the club. Feel free to collect and prepare seeds and/or propagations of your favorite plants or crops and trade them for a new type of plant. It is a great way to expand or start your collection, as well as share it with others!

ePortfolio Showcase

Please stop by the ePortfolio Showcase on Friday, March 22. This event will be held in the Community Services Center ballroom from 12 - 2 p.m. Support your friends and fellow students as they present their goals and achievements. You will have the opportunity to speak with participants and see their ePortfolios. Selected students will compete for an award as they present their portfolios to the full audience.


This event is sponsored by the LCCC Career Development Center.

Cougar Cabinet Food Distributions - March

LCCC offers distributions of pre-packed bags of groceries at the Allentown and Schnecksville locations. Reservations are required. Your reservation enables us to prepare adequate numbers of pre-packed bags for all seeking food assistance. Distributions are free and confidential.

 

LCCC Allentown - Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.


LCCC Schnecksville - Thursdays from 2 - 5 p.m.


In your email message, include your name and L#, and your Thursday of choice. You must be enrolled in courses to participate in food distributions. After you send your message, you will receive additional information.

LCCC Tamaqua

Visit the food cabinet in room 203 for prepackaged pantry boxes and a selection of grocery staples. All members of the LCCC community are welcome to visit the cabinet once a week.


Hours are subject to change each semester due to staff availability.

  • Mondays: 12:45 - 4 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 4 - 5 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 4 - 5 p.m.
  • Fridays: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.


Pantry boxes are available at the Morgan Center front desk during regular business hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Thursday; and 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Friday. All visits are free and confidential. Cougar Cabinet appointments are also available upon request by calling 570-668-6880 or emailing morganreception@lccc.edu.

CHOICES

The PA Bureau of Liquor Enforcement, the Office of Public Safety and the LCCC Counseling Center present "CHOICES: Alcohol Abuse, Awareness and Prevention" in the Student Union on Thursday, March 28, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Students, faculty and staff are welcome as we learn about the negative impacts of excessive alcohol consumption, related laws pertaining to underage alcohol use and the consequences of alcohol abuse.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub - Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 29, at 2:30 p.m. in ARC 107-H


Horticulture Club - Thursday, Feb. 15, from 12 - 2 p.m. in SH 119. We will be planting seeds for the upcoming gardening season! Students are welcome to plant seeds and keep them in the greenhouse to grow or take their pots home. Come visit and get your garden off to a good start for producing some delicious vegetables.

Special Announcements

Incomplete Grade Deadline

This is a reminder that final grades for students who received an "incomplete" for the fall and winter 2023 semesters are due on Monday, April 1. Be sure that all final work is submitted to the instructor based on the agreed upon deadline. Instructors will evaluate your work, then complete a "Change of Grade" form. Outstanding "incomplete" grades will be converted to a final grade of "F."

Congratulations to Giavaughn Henriquez, LCCC's Student Employee of the Month!

The Career Development Center is proud to honor Giavaughn Henriquez! As College Relations Student Worker, Gia has grown so much in her confidence and developed her skills immensely. It's been a pleasure for the College Relations team to see her become the young professional that she is. Gia uses her time wisely, whether she's working on new or continuing projects, thinking of fresh ideas for social media campaigns or asking questions about the marketing and public relations processes of the college. She has taken initiative, utilizing her connections via Student Government Association, Outdoors Club and her communication classes to include new students in LCCC social media content. Gia is a delight to work with and always embraces challenges with a positive attitude. Thank you for all that you do, Gia!

National Recognition for LCCC Student - Congratulations, Haily Hottenstein!

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society National Headquarters recently announced its annual scholarship awards. LCCC student, Haily Hottenstein, has been selected as a Gold Scholar on the 2024 Academic Team.


She will receive a $1,500 scholarship. Congratulations to Haily! The college is proud of your achievements and contributions to the college through SGA and PTK.

FAFSA Form Now Available

The 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is now available online. If you plan to attend college in the next school year (beginning in fall 2024), now is the time to make sure your FAFSA is complete! Please note the PA State Grant filing deadline is May 1. Don't hesitate to contact the Financial Aid Office if you have any questions about completing the FAFSA at finaid@mymail.lccc.edu or 610-799-1133.

Winter Isn't Over Yet - Sign Up for LCCC Alerts

Get fast notifications about campus emergencies and weather closings and delays. Sign up for the Omnilert notification system here. You can sign up with any username and password you choose, then customize how you receive the alerts: text, email, phone call, or all three. Also, if you already have an account, confirm that your contact information on Omnilert is correct and up-to-date.

Preferred/Chosen First Name and Pronouns

LCCC recognizes that students in our community may use names other than their legal first names to identify themselves.


By sharing a preferred/chosen first name, the individual is agreeing to be referred to by this name in college-related systems (i.e. Banner, Canvas, and Degree Works) and documents as well as email communications, interactions and any processes in which names are used to address an individual, except when the use of the legal name is required by law or the college.


Students can change their preferred name in Self-Service BannerWeb. Detailed instructions are available on the IT Knowledgebase. Changes will be reflected across LCCC systems within 48 hours. 


Note: A preferred/chosen first name is not a legal name change. Students who are legally changing their name should follow the instructions here.
