Big Pharma Screening

The LCCC Honors College is hosting a screening of Big Pharma: Market Failure followed by a Q&A with director, Vince Mondillo, on Monday, April 24, at 2:30 p.m. in AC 107/108.

How much do pharma companies really spend on the research and development of truly innovative drugs? Do "free market" principles impact drug prices and help control costs? Do the normal rules of business apply to the pharma industry? How do T.V. ads impact consumers and doctors? Big Pharma: Market Failure proposes a solution that makes business sense for employers and health sense for employees. It is a compelling drama that reveals the truth of pharma costs and what we can do about it.

This event is free and open to the public.

Attention Graduates: Helpful Hints for 2023 Commencement Ceremony

Planning to attend commencement on May 17? We are excited to celebrate this milestone with you, and to help you get ready for the momentous occasion, have created a helpful hints video, featuring LCCC mascot, Clawrence. Learn what to expect, where to stand, when to cross the stage, how to don the regalia, which side the tassel goes, what not to bring into the arena and more. It is a memorable occasion, and you'll be ready to celebrate!

Tips from the LCCC Learning Specialists

Life is often about finding the proper balance. Human beings don't do well with excess in our college, work and life balances.

Too much social time? Our studying could be impacted. Too much studying? Our mental stress could be impacted. Too much mental stress? Our health could be impacted.

College is constantly trying to find this balance; the first key is to avoid excess.

For more tips, watch this 60-second video. If you want more help, reach out here. You can also contact the LCCC Educational Support Services by visiting Science Hall 150, emailing educationalsupportservices@lccc.edu, or calling 610-799-1156.

Mental Health Minute

Eat and sleep well.

Eating healthy and sleeping well play a huge role in making college students feel better overall, though they are often overlooked due to the higher prices of healthy food and the multiple assignments given in a short time. Try eating healthy as often as you are able (swap those potato chips for an apple instead) and creating a relaxing pre-sleep routine (and aim for six to eight hours of sleep). Your mind, body, and soul will thank you.

If you're looking for more personalized help, reach out to the LCCC Counseling Center at counselingcenter@lccc.edu or 610-799-1895.

Preferred First Name, Pronouns, and Gender Identification

It's so easy to change and submit your preferred first name, pronouns, and gender identification to LCCC. Just go to the LCCC portal, sign in with your username and password, and see these step-by-step instructions.

Students may also submit requests for name changes in Google Workspace, including their "Display Name" in their email. Request information and find step-by-step instructions here in the LCCC IT knowledgebase. If you need further technical assistance, please visit the student technology help desk.

Ramadan

Ramadan began March 23 and will continue until April 21. This is one of the most sacred times for Muslims. During this time, Muslim students, staff and faculty observe a strict daily fast from dawn until sunset. They are not allowed to eat or drink during the daylight hours. Fasting is a private act of worship, a form of spiritual discipline and a means to empathize with those less fortunate. Please be mindful that individuals’ level of engagement might be impacted by the fasting.
