All school and BMC staff who directly support the academic, teaching, and research missions of the school, (e.g., coordination of clerkship rotations) are eligible.

W Building Construction Project Update

Week of Jan. 22

Next week crews will continue building Air Handler 4 and the Konvekta energy recovery system on level 10. The crews also will be relocating steam lines, and continuing electrical and plumbing runs on level 11. The project team will be heavily utilizing the freight elevator during the week to bring in more pieces for Air Handler 4 and Konvekta system. The expected impact should be similar to what was experienced this week.

Retirement Reception for Ron Corley, PhD

Date: Monday, Jan. 29

Time: 3-5 p.m.

Please join us to celebrate the many contributions of Ronald Corley, PhD, who previously announced his plans to retire after serving our community in various roles, most recently as chair of virology, immunology & microbiology since 1994. 

Ron also served as director of the National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) from 2014-2022, associate director of the NEIDL from 2007-2014, BUMC associate provost for research from 2009-2014, and chair ad interim of Genetics & Genomics from 2007-2008.

Ron led the university-wide team to open the NEIDL, now an internationally recognized center of excellence for emerging infectious diseases. His experience in faculty recruitment and team building has fostered a sense of shared commitment throughout his department, the NEIDL the Medical Campus and the University. He leaves a legacy of support, collaboration and training program development building a critical mass in important research areas, including RNA virus biology and pathogenesis.

Art Days 2024

Date: Tuesday-Wednesday, Feb. 20-21

Time: 3-5 p.m.

Location: Instructional Building, Hiebert Lounge (L14)

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to submit artwork of any medium to the 34^th annual BUMC Gallery for the Arts, sponsored by the Provost's Office. Art Days was started by Dean Emeritus Chobanian to foster the support and growth of the creative arts at BUMC. The exhibition is mounted by the Creative Arts Society. To be placed on the "submit list" or if you have any questions, please contact Dr. Keith Tornheim at tornheim@bu.edu or 617-358-4172.

Artwork (paintings, photos, poetry, sculpture, needlework, etc.) will be collected on Friday, February 16. Pieces should be framed if possible. Security will be provided. Work will be returned Thursday, February 22. Specific instructions will be sent at a later date to those who respond to this announcement.
