WALKING FOR THE RELEASE OF THE HOSTAGES

HELD BY HAMAS

Michelle Sarna, who with her husband, Rabbi Yehuda Sarna, leads the NYU-Bronfman Center, has organized the students and local community in a walk around Washington Square Park and Union Square Park to help bring awareness to the plight of the hostages being held in Gaza and to show support for the people of Israel.

This Shabbat we meet at 2:00 PM in front of the Bronfman Center (7 East 10th Street) and carry posters as we walk around Washington Square Park, then Union Square Park, and finish with words and prayers at University Place just below 14 Street.

The plan is for this to be a weekly activity until the hostages are freed. Please join us. עם ישראל חי

MOVIE NIGHT AT CSFA

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2024

7:00 PM

"HALLELUJAH: Leonard Cohen,

A Journey, A song"

following the movie there will be a Q&A

with the film's Music Supervisor and CSFA Board Member,

RACHEL FOX

HALLELUJAH: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song is a definitive exploration of singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen as seen through the prism of his internationally renowned hymn, Hallelujah.

This feature-length documentary weaves together three creative strands: The songwriter and his times. The song's dramatic journey from record label reject to chart-topping hit. And moving testimonies from major recording artists for whom Hallelujah has become a personal touchstone.

Approved for production by Leonard Cohen just before his 80th birthday in 2015, the film accesses a wealth of never-before-seen archival materials from the Cohen Trust including Cohen's personal notebooks, journals and photographs, performance footage and extremely rare audio recordings and interviews.
