Stunning mural made by WesternU COMP students unveiled in the Pumerantz Library

Western University of Health Sciences revealed a mural Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, in the Pumerantz Library, hand painted by three College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (COMP) students.

The mural, titled “Solar Solace, 2023,” was created by second-year COMP students Christiana Kontaxis, Trina Nguyen and Jacklyn Vainshtein. The mural is housed in the Wellness Room on the second floor of the library.

WesternU Health Pharmacy recently organized a vaccine clinic to safeguard the health of our most vulnerable population. This endeavor was possible due to the dedicated efforts of WesternU Health staff, pharmacy and nursing students.

The clinic was held at a local Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).

College of Health Sciences alumna Kheira Bettir, MSPA '22, is spotlighted in the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) news section. She talks about how her family's health issues prompted her interest in the PA profession, and about her increasing popularity as a social media influencer.

Matt Wedel, PhD, of COMP and CPM, traveled to northeastern New Mexico to watch the annular eclipse of the sun on Saturday, Oct. 14. Sky & Telescope magazine included his observing report and a photo in an article on the eclipse.

Western University of Health Sciences will participate in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill at 10:19 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023.

Everyone on the Pomona and Lebanon campuses are asked to participate except for WesternU Health and the Pet Health Center. At 10:19 a.m., please Drop, Cover and Hold On for one minute.

After the one-minute “Drop, Cover and Hold On” drill, please exit your building (except for all WesternU Health locations and the Pet Health Center). Remember to use the stairs instead of the elevators, use the exit door closest to you and go to your evacuation area. Please follow the directions of the Security Officers or “Safety Coordinators” (they will be the ones wearing the hard hat and safety vest). Roll call for employees will be taken by the Safety Coordinators to assure everyone is accounted for. COMP-Northwest and CHS-Northwest should evacuate to their respective parking lots.
