White House Releases President's Budget

This week, the president released his budget for Fiscal Year 2024, which includes increased funding for Child Care, the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Head Start. The budget reflects a reduction in SNAP spending in 2023 as public health emergency waivers expire. The budget also proposes expanding the Community Eligibility Provision, which would advance a pathway to free school meals for an additional 9 million school children.

FNS Seeks Comment on SNAP-Ed N-PEARS

The USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is seeking comment on the proposed information collection requirements for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education and Obesity Prevention Grant (SNAP-Ed) National Program Evaluation and Reporting System (N-PEARS). Comments received before April 6 will be considered.

USDA Selects Five States to Test Mobile Contactless Payments in SNAP

The USDA Food and Nutrition Service is partnering with five states to test mobile payment technology in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP participants in Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Oklahoma will be able to test the use of mobile payment methods as an alternative to their physical SNAP card. 

National CACFP Week

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Week is a national education and information campaign sponsored annually by the National CACFP Sponsors Association. It is designed to raise awareness of how the USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program works to combat hunger, and this year it lands on March 12 to 18. The CACFP brings healthy foods to tables across the country.

APHSA Peer Learning Webinar: The Human Services Value Curve in Action

The Human Services Value Curve orients leaders to transform programs and services into generative systems, enabling sustainable, population-wide outcomes for communities. Two leaders from the public and nonprofit sectors will discuss how they used the Value Curve lens to reimagine service delivery to center community and family voice while also building staff buy-in to become critical agents of change.

NSDTA Education Conference Call for Proposals

We are still accepting proposals for the National Staff Development and Training Association (NSDTA) Education Conference, held October 22-25 at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square. The conference is ideal for sharing our collective work on building capacity for training and organizational development in human services. The deadline for proposals is April 5th!
