Get Your Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Training
by August 31, 2022

Effective July 1, 2022, RBS training is required by CA Assembly Bill 1221 and Assembly Bill 82. On-premises alcoholic beverage servers and their managers must complete an ABC-approved RBS training program and exam no later than August 31, 2022, or within 60 days of initial employment. |

Federal CHIPS and Science Act Signed Into Law |
On Monday, President Joe Biden signed the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) and Science Act into law. Over the next five years, it appropriates $52.7 billion in grants and loan guarantees for chip manufacturing and research and $24 billion in tax credits.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce states that the "signing of the bipartisan CHIPS Act is a historic investment in America's future—it will boost microchip production at home, strengthen our supply chains, increase domestic research and development, and bolster our national security."
The United States held 37% of the world's semiconductor manufacturing capacity in 1990, but that has dropped to just 12% in 2022. The CHIPS and Science Act's funding to increase domestic production will reduce American companies' reliance on foreign manufacturers to produce microchips, thereby increasing U.S. economic and national security.
The CHIPS and Science Act also authorizes up to $200 billion of additional funding over the next five years for workforce development and R&D (research and development), though actual amounts would need to be appropriated in future years by Congress.
The bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act passed the Senate 64-33, with both of California’s Senators, Dianne Feinstein and Alex Padilla, voting in favor. It passed the House 243-187, with all three of Anaheim’s Representatives, Lou Correa, Young Kim, and Katie Porter, voting in favor.

California is King of Manufacturing |

|
California leads the nation in terms of manufacturing jobs and gross domestic product, according to a study released this month by California Manufacturing Technology Consulting. Commissioned by the Torrance trade industry group, the study was conducted by Beacon Economics, an independent research and consulting firm. California’s share of manufacturing jobs in the United States has ticked up slightly since 2000, currently standing at 11%. That is the highest percentage of manufacturing jobs in the country. |

Angels Give Grant to Girls Inc |

|
The Angels Baseball Foundation presented Girls Inc with a $10K grant for their continued work with young ladies in Orange County! Additionally, over 100 members of Girls Inc visited the Big A on July 19th for a ballpark tour and career panel with members of the Angels front office staff. The all-female panel shared their experiences and stories of reaching their current leadership positions, all while answering poignant questions from the middle school-aged girls in attendance.

The most significant is the Employee Retention Credit (ERC), a refundable payroll credit. Business taxpayers that experienced a suspension (full or partial) of operations or a reduction in gross receipts can claim this credit of up to $26,000 per employee.
