Join TMM Project for some Summer Reading Entertainment, as they encourage children to express themselves healthily throughcreativity and thearts! We'll be learning about different American musical styles with variousmusical instruments.

The "True Mission Matters" Project, is Louisiana’s premier performing Arts in Education collective on a mission to empower today's youth by encouraging self-expression and creativity through the arts. Born and raised in Louisiana, Terrance Michael Morgan and the TMM project (the True Mission Matters Project) are on a mission to improve the lives of today’s youth by promoting positive youth development through the act of art, dance, speaking and more.

Morgan began as a self-taught dancer doing mostly free-style (improvisation) where he was introduced to the hip hop dance style of B-Boying. He currently travels as a motivational and educational speaker/artist that performs in schools, libraries, festivals, and more weekly to spread his message of positivity.

Don't miss this fun interactive program, where you are sure to have a good time and be dancing along!!

Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.

RPL's July Author of the Month, Sudha Pillarisetti will be here for discussion and to sell his books. Sudha is a Pathologist, with training and education in India and USA. He retired after over 40 years of experience in Pathology all over the Globe. He is passionate about his profession and introduced new technologies in laboratory and was instrumental in bringing many of those to CENLA. Sudha’s interests include photography, cooking, traveling, reading, software development and computer applications in the clinical lab. His software applications include – Document Control. He has authored and presented many scientific papers in different medical Journals.

Lyrically Gifted Brother is a Poetry Slam Champion, comedic entertainer, and host from the city of New Orleans. LGB’s versatile performances captivate the humor and guttural experience of parenting, relationships and shed light on social injustice happening within his community. As an artist and entrepreneur, he founded a clothing brand entitled “She Be” to ignite men to stand in solidarity with women, with a mission to uplift, motivate and empower equality for all. LGB has toured the nation, lending his charisma and poetic talent to audiences of all ages. During the COVID -19 pandemic, he hosted an Instagram Poetry Slam to maintain joy in his poetry community while keeping their pens sharp. Lyrically Gifted Brother’s mission is to make his audience laugh and listen, leaving them entertained, inspired, and motivated to create change.

Doors open at 6:00pm. Show starts at 6:30pm. Food available for purchase. No outside food or drinks allowed.

Challenges in life and love test the resilience of a mother-daughter relationship in Terms of Endearment. Though Emma is often exasperated by her highly-opinionated mother, Aurora, they talk every day about their problems, from Aurora finding unexpected love even as she becomes a reluctant grandmother, to Emma's struggle in her troubled marriage. But when they need one another most, will they be able to find courage in each other? This funny and touching story captures the delicate, sometimes fractured bonds between mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, and lovers, both old and new.

2024 Creativity Launch Pad Classes

Alexandria Museum of Art

Launch Pad classes are for ANY and ALL skill levels seeking a fun, relaxed and creative environment in which to learn something new or work on your own. They offer an opportunity to experience different mediums as an introduction, that could provide a gateway to independent making.

All materials are provided. Mindfulness classes are perfect for clearing your creative roadblocks and finding your artistic voice.

For Beginners - a great way to test the medium and see what you like.

For Intermediates - great for constructive critique.

For Advanced students - work at your own pace.

Classes meet on the first Tuesday of every month, 5:30-7:00 in the AMoA classroom.

$10 for AMoA Members ~ $20 per class for non-members

You must be 21 to attend this class.

Arts Council is currently accepting applications for Stage Technicians



The Arts Council of Central Louisiana is seeking part-time Theater Stage Technicians. Duties include providing technical services for two performing arts venues in downtown Alexandria, assisting the Technical Directors with all functions of staging including serving on running crews for setup and load out as needed, as well as operation and maintenance of lights, sound, video and rigging systems. Must work effectively with staff, administrators, students, and touring performers and crew, have experience in basic computer programs and the ability to keep a professional attitude at all times. Work hours include nights and weekends. Please send resume, cover letter and references as attachments to info@louisiana-arts.org. No walk-ins or phone calls please.
