Each finalist will perform a 20 minute set before a panel of judges in the courtyard of the Blue Whale from 6pm to 8pm. The winner will be announced at the end of the event. Please support these exciting young artists, and sample the many great restaurants in the Weller Court.
The Angel City Arts Young Artist Competition is an avenue for talented young jazz musicians in the LA area to create and collaborate with one another. It provides an opportunity for their original music heard and evaluated by working jazz professionals, and the winners will open the Angel City Jazz Festival Friday, October 4 at LACMA.
We would like to send a special thank you to all of the bands who submitted applications and the educators who helped spread the word.
We received entries from musicians attending the Colburn School, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Northridge, Los Angeles High School of the Arts, UC Irvine, UCLA, and USC.
