I felt seen and heard when I came and the selection of clothing that was set aside for me showed that there is actual care put into this process. I appreciate being treated like a person and not a referral and being treated with dignity and respect and my opinion mattered. So many times in these spaces of need the first thing organizations and people who hold the power to make referrals want to strip you of your dignity and self-worth and respect. It’s as if because I am needing assistance in this season that I am less than.. many not even understanding that most Americans are on 2 paychecks from being where I am.

As best seen from a scene from The Cosby Show- Cliff was teaching Theo about presentation and how things are done. He stated if you bring me a filet mignon on a silver platter with mashed potatoes for a side with it garnished it’s amazing. But you bring that same quality meal and try to serve it to me on the lid of a trash can. 

You all are serving on silver platters and it is appreciated.

Join us monthly for a time of networking and learning in small groups, our Lean In Circles. This professional association is a place for networking, sharing ideas, gaining skills, seeking advice, and showing solidarity.

*This is event is for Adult Women only. Must be 18 or older to enter.
