I always approach bidders at my benefit auctions and ask them what made them raise their paddles multiple times during the live auction or in the Fund-a-Need auction. Their answers are insightful. Donors raise their paddles multiple times at my benefit auctions because they are having fun doing so.

Their paddles raise multiple times because they comprehend the application of their money.

I have been able to engage donors to raise their paddles so many times that they have given more money than what they anticipated giving at the event. 

This spring I had a wonderful donor raise their paddle 39 times in my benefit auction. Another raised their paddle 38 times. Last year I had two bidders in the same room seesaw in a rapid, frenzied paddle raising competition. One raised their paddle 36 times and the other 35 times.They had fun and the organizations benefitted from their generosity.

Being generous is fun. Donors and bidders enjoy the auction process and the new number to reach is 40! I know it will happen and I hope it happens with me conducting your benefit auction.

This took place with a new client. They had "never heard of a strategy" to get paddles raised more than once by a single bidder. "Who would do that?"
