Aurora Center for Active Adults Walk ‘N’ Roll

Get ready to move and groove at the 1 Mile Walk ‘N’ Roll at the Aurora Center for Active Adults in celebration of Older Auroran’s Month. The 1-mile walk or roll around Del Mar Park will begin promptly at 9 a.m. Arrive early at 8:45 a.m. to take part in an instructor-led stretch session. After your walk, enjoy breakfast, music and goodie bags.

Join City Council and Aurora Water at the inaugural Water-wise Day Expo in the beautiful Aurora Water-wise Garden, located southeast of the Aurora Municipal Center. The event will feature educational sessions beginning at 9 a.m. Interact with local experts in water efficiency and get your questions answered. Learn about programs and services offered by Aurora Water’s conservation team, including rebates, free landscape designs and water use assessments. Stick around for the multiple drawings for fantastic giveaways.

Free Loader Days
May 18, June 15, July 20 and Aug. 17, from 7 a.m. to noon
Mulch helps reduce weeds, protects soil from erosion and retains soil moisture. Bring your pick-up truck or open trailer—along with your own shovels, pitchforks, and containers—to take advantage of free mulch from the city of Aurora. The mulch pile will be available while supplies last at the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Dawson Street (enter via Dawson and follow the signs).

Fire Safety Field Day Fundraiser
Saturday, May 18, 9 a.m. to noon
Join the Rotary Clubs of Aurora for a free interactive fire safety field day that will feature opportunities for families to see demonstrations like extrications and CPR, put out a fire, learn about scientific methods for fire investigations, climb inside a fire engine and ambulance, experience thermal imaging technology and race firefighters around the training ground. The event is free and open to the public (with the completion of a safety waiver). As it is a fundraiser, donations are requested. Funds raised benefit Aurora Fire Rescue for a mobile fire safety house.

Colorado Remembers 2024

The city of Aurora invites you to the annual Colorado Remembers event for a ceremony commemorating those who have made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for their country. Activities begin at 8 a.m. with a free pancake breakfast; the heartfelt ceremony and tribute is scheduled from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Special tours of the Memorial will follow the ceremony, the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument and various static military displays for all to experience as we gather to honor, educate and remember.

“80 Years Later: Aurora Remembers D-Day”
Through July 7, 2024
The Aurora History Museum presents the exhibit “80 Years Later: Aurora Remembers D-Day,” featuring local connections to World War II, a detailed history of D-Day, highlights of Colorado’s contribution to the war effort and a remembrance wall to Aurora’s fallen during the war. D-Day marked the beginning of the end of Nazi Germany's control over Western Europe and was a critical turning point in world history. June 6, 2024, will be the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings along the Normandy coast.
