Responsible waste disposal protects our land, waterways and community

To protect Aurora's residents and environment, there are ways to get rid of household waste safely.

Household chemicals
Due to logistics and contractor staffing issues, this year's Household Chemical Roundup is canceled. But for hazardous waste disposal, Waste Management's At Your Door Special Collection offers a pickup program for household chemicals by calling 800.449.7587. More information is available at WMAtYourDoor.com/Residential.

Still have paint leftover from your last project? Through the free PaintCare program, unused paint, stain and varnish can be returned to many of the locations where it was purchased or picked up from home for larger quantities. For details, visit PaintCare.org/Colorado.

Electronics
Electronics tossed in the trash not only cause serious environmental problems but also are banned from landfills in Colorado. The city partners with Techno Rescue to offer special pricing events for e-cycling at their facility at 3251 Lewiston St., Suite 10. Opportunities are scheduled from Sept. 26 to Oct. 1, Dec. 27 to 30 and Jan. 2 to 7. For hours and pricing information, visit AuroraGov.org/Recycle.

Batteries
Alkaline batteries made in America no longer contain mercury and can be thrown away in the regular trash if placed in a plastic zip-top bag or with a piece of tape placed securely over each terminal. Cellphone and rechargeable batteries may be recycled at stores listed at Call2Recycle.org.

As a reminder, residential trash and recycling pickup is not a city-provided service, and residents must arrange service with one of the city's permitted trash and recycling haulers. For details, visit AuroraGov.org.
Plan your day at Global Fest
Global Fest will offer activities for all ages, including two stages of musical and dance performances, an international marketplace, art displays, creative activities for children, food vendors and more! Visit the link below to learn more.

New Customer Portal coming in September

Aurora Water will be offering a new online portal, SpryEngage, for customers to manage their water accounts. This portal gives you the option to set up multiple ways to pay your account, access to your water use summaries over time, the ability to monitor and pay multiple accounts, several ways to make donations to Aurora Water Cares, and options to receive communications from Aurora Water. This is not a replacement for the current Paymentus bill payment system or our other customer portals. Rather, it provides a single platform that can consolidate these tools.

From 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, through Tuesday, Sept. 6, while SpryEngage is implemented, Paymentus and Pay-by-Phone options will not be available. If you use AutoPay, service will not be disrupted. If you currently have a Paymentus account, you will be able to access your payment account seamlessly after Sept. 6. For additional information, visit AuroraGov.org/SpryEngage.
If you see graffiti, report it

The presence of graffiti can make an otherwise pleasant community feel less safe or appear to have less value. By promptly removing graffiti, we send the message that our neighborhoods will not tolerate vandalism and that crime does not have a home in that area.

The city's Housing and Community Services Department has a unit dedicated to removing graffiti from city neighborhoods Monday through Friday during daytime hours. The Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department removes graffiti found in parks and open space.

To report graffiti, contact Access Aurora.
