HHOJ's vehicle has broken down for good - and we currently have no way to reach women in remote areas across northern Ethiopia.

We have hundreds of Safe Motherhood Ambassadors (SMAs) deployed across Tigray (a region the size of West Virginia), so it's essential for us to have a reliable 4x4 field vehicle. Our staff need to reach these women to support their ongoing reintegration, and monitor their progress as they work to end fistula by promoting safe, skilled delivery.

Why do we need a vehicle?

...to support Safe Motherhood Ambassadors like Birhan (below right) working in their communities to identify new cases of fistula and promote safe pregnancy and childbirth
...
...to conduct Community Engagement Campaigns and Fistula Prevention Workshops, engaging men in local villages

...to perform essential monitoring & evaluation work in remote villages & health centers

But right now, we're stuck without wheels.

RIP Green Machine: our vehicle has officially hit the Ethiopian dust!

You can help us address this vital transportation gap, so we can reach more fistula survivors and identify hidden cases across rural Ethiopia.

SMAs like Birhan rely on HHOJ's visits to strengthen their fistula prevention work in hard-to-reach communities across Tigray's vast landscape

Thank you for getting Behind the Wheel with us!
