Gospel of Luke

Lk 24:35-48

A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles

Acts 3:13-1

The sacred author has Peter say harsh words to the Jewish people. He blames them for killing the Holy and Righteous one , the author of life, our Lord Jesus Christ. But he adds quickly: "I know, brothers, that you acted out of ignorance." Judging others should be left up to God. But it is clear that ignorance on the part of those who should know is blameworthy and causes harm and disaster.

Poorly informed Christians, though they may hold a doctorate in science, are a danger to themselves and others. One cannot possibly cope with other visions on life, glittering and seemingly so much more appealing, if one knows one's own only poorly. Do you keep up-to-date on your religion?

The Responsorial Psalm is that that we put our trust in Jesus because of his love and kindness and that he has done great things for us, so we should be filled with joy and love for him and to be like him.

in your self-giving. He raises up the lowly from the dust; from the dunghill he lifts up the poor. Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The Lord hears the cry of the poor!

A Reading, From the first Letter of Saint John

1 Jn 2:1-5a

There is a difference between knowing about your marriage partner and knowing him/ her. Knowing a great deal about God and religion does not make one necessarily a good Christian. The greatest theologians were not always the greatest saints!

The author of John states that knowing God is a religious experience in which you are involved. Love has very much to do with it1 "The way we may be sure that we know him [Christ- God] is to keep his commandments, "in other words, to do what he wants us to do. This kind of knowledge is acquired not only by study but also and much more by prayer!

In the Gospel of Luke

Lk 24:35-48

Luke states that our Lord opened the minds of the disciples to the understanding of the Scriptures. Experiencing God/Jesus Christ in meditative and prayerful Bible reading is the clue to Christian renewal. Understanding the human writers' word in the Bible is a necessary condition for understanding God's word in Scripture.

Hence, partaking in a study group is important. Doing things together under capable leadership makes study easier. But the real understanding of the Scriptures requires prayer and meditation, because the Lord must open your mind and give you insight.

Bring Your Children To Mass?

When Jesus reprimanded the apostles for wanting

to keep children away from Him (see Mt 19:14),

He did not give an age or behavior requirement.

At the baptism of a child, parents and sponsors

promise to teach their children the Catholic faith

and “to bring them up according to

the law of Christ and His Church.”

The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us,

“The Sunday celebration of the Lord’s Day

and his Eucharist is at the

heart of the Church’s life” (No. 2177).

This importance is shown in attendance at Mass

and rest from labor, the first of the precepts of the Church.

Click the link below to read why you should bring your children to Mass:

Divine Lord, send your Holy Spirit anew into our hearts and cleanse us from all sin so we may adore and worship you in Spirit and in truth. Create in us a greater love for your Word and a keener desire to serve you and our fellow men. Remove all malice, bitterness, and resentment from our minds, and fill us with your abundant grace. In Christ Jesus our Savior and Friend.

“Lord, I too lack the necessary faith to see the blessings that accompany Your Cross, as well as the many crosses I am given in life. Help me to be purified in my faith so that I can see Your hand at work in all things, even suffering, injustice and persecution. May I see life from Your perspective alone. Jesus, I trust in You."
