Two Highly Allocated New Releases from the Great Thibaud Boudignon!

A gentle giant, Thibaud Boudignon is lauded as the most exciting young producer in the Loire Valley and perhaps the whole of France.

The intensely thoughtful Boudignon brings the same dedication to his craft that he once did as a medal-winning judoka. As a winemaker he started from nothing, purchasing his vineyards little by little and slowly earning recognition from the grandeur of what he bottles.

"One taste of the wines of Thibaud Boudignon and I immediately realised that here we have a new star in Anjou."

- Dr. Chris Kissack

If you're lucky enough to get your hands on one of Thibaud’s legendary Savennières bottlings, you'll pay well north of $100 for the privilege. Today we bring you two wines from Thibaud that cost a fraction of that amount!

Considering the high demand for these ambitious and aspirational wines, we may need to cut back orders to match our allocation. Check out both wines below, then quickly place your order with the Big Yellow Button.

2023 Thibaud Boudignon "Rosé de Loire"

Loire Valley, France

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thibaud crafts this still, dry Rosé from 90% Cabernet Franc and 10% Grolleau, and our team LOVES it. In fact, we believe it to be the highest-quality Rosé from the 2023 vintage that we’ve yet to come across!
Incredibly concentrated in flavor yet so nimble. It is a pink wine that relinquishes nothing to whites and reds as it pertains to intensity. Its vibrant red fruit and mineral-soaked personality brings notes of strawberries in cream, white cherry, nectarine, green pepper, radish, green herb and loads of chalky minerals. Our mouths are still watering!
The intensity on the palate and length of finish are sublime and culminate in a densely packed wine that is irresistible. This is amazing to drink now, and will be fascinating to follow over the next two years as well.
There’s a ton of energy put into this bottling; the only thing modest is its price. Most cult producers do not make a wine this approachable! Simply put, it’s a whole-package French Rosé with impact, complexity and vivacity from a maker who Wine Advocate describes as “one of France's foremost vignerons and winemakers today." We fully agree!
2022 Thibaud Boudignon Anjou Blanc
Loire Valley, France
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A huge smile came across our face the moment we dipped into this spectacular “entry-level” bottling. Holy cow, for a fraction of the price of his Savennières, this overdelivering Anjou manages to capture all the magic and beauty of Loire Valley Chenin Blanc.

"Just when you think you’ve had the best a region has to offer, a new discovery comes along to rock your world. It is in this writer’s humble opinion, that there is no greater dry Chenin Blanc being made in the world today. Period."

- Skurnik Imports on Thibaud Boudlgnon

This 2022 release seems impossibly concentrated and racy at once. Boudignon picks later than almost any grower in his region, and what you get is uniquely intense and structured wines that bring chiseled muscle yet no fat, even in ripe vintages like 2022. The combination of personality, flair and quality is truly remarkable.

Boudignon ages this cuvée, from 35-year-old vines planted in schist and volcanic rhyolite soils, in mid-sized French oak barrels from excellent cooperages - of which 20% were new. The result is a mesmerizing, instant-classic that explodes with notes of quince, oyster shell, honeycomb, marzipan, gunflint, pear butter, red apple peels steeped in chamomile tea, and Manuka honey, with waves of chalk streaking through your palate on its forever finish.

Earning 93+ points from our team, this seriously high-level performance is equipped for the finest white meat and seafood dishes you, or a Michelin-star restaurant, can craft. Median online retail is $53. We bring our small allocation to you for a good bit less. Act quick, as this gem will go fast!
