MR. DRAHEIM:

Dear MHS Families!

Greetings from Marinette High School!  Hard to believe we’re in Thanksgiving Break week!

I have a few reminders below that we will be discussing with students the first weeks of school.

First, we want to make sure that all students are staying current with their school work and getting assignments in on time.  Please check your student’s Canvas or Skyward for current grades. Our first term will be finished on Thursday and Friday will be the first day of term 2.  We also want to remind you and all students to use our Anchor Hour as a time to get caught up or go in for extra help. As we get closer to cold and flu season and the possibility of students being out sick it’s important to get in those habits early.

Second, I wanted to remind all parents/guardians to please help us by monitoring your student’s attendance and making sure they come to school every day, unless they are sick.  Checking a couple times a week is a great way to stay current with them in Canvas and/or Skyward.  If you need any help with this or log-in information, please call our High School Office for support.  We will be reinstituting our positive attendance initiative like we did last school year.  Those students who have perfect attendance will be recognized with food and prizes, including a Golden Ticket prize!  The only excused absences we will be recognizing for this will be for a school event.  For the month of October we had 42 students with perfect attendance and they received pizza for lunch.  This month so far, we have 128 students!  They have done a great job getting here and we are very proud of them.  This month we’ll have donuts at lunch for all the students who qualify.

Finally, if you have a student who drives to school, please remind them they need to register for a parking permit every year and that they should lock their vehicle when it’s here.  When they fill out the form and get signatures, they will be issued a new parking pass.  I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving Break! Go Marines!

Sincerely,

Matt Draheim

MR FURTON:

We are very proud of our Fall athletes and teams that wrapped up their seasons last month. MHS had 17 All-Conference athletes this Fall! They included one NEC Player of the Year (Kennedy Polomis, Jr., Girls Golf) and one State Qualifier (Regan Hermanson, Jr., Girls Golf)! Our Competitive Theater team also advanced to their State Meet at UW-Green Bay!

Our Winter sports seasons have already begun competitions and we are excited for another successful season! In addition to our Varsity sports, this time of year is when many of our other Co-Curricular activities begin (Forensics, FBLA, Robotics, School Musical, Powerlifting, and many more!) and we encourage all of our students to get involved in at least one club. Parents, are you looking for a reason to encourage your child to join a MHS Co-Curricular? Check out this data from Term 1 of this school year:
