Quarterly Town Hall coming April 14
Greetings!
You're invited to join the Pentacle Theatre Governing board and staff members at our second quarterly town hall on Wednesday, April 14, at 6 p.m. on Zoom.

What exactly is a town hall? It's an opportunity for us to update you on what's happening at Pentacle Theatre and for us to hear what's on your mind about the theater.

We're excited to share with you our plans to offer more entertainment, discuss possible bylaw changes, review your responses to our recent survey results.

You can submit your questions in advance here. We look forward to talking with you!
Talking about diversity, equity and inclusion in the news
At our last town hall, we shared our goals for our diversity, equity and inclusion initiative. As we prepare to launch that work, I have been focusing on finding resources for my own learning and growth.

After terrible murders in Atlanta last month, I have sought to learn as much as possible about the lived experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

Here are some radio stories/podcasts I found particularly informative. I listen to these while walking or doing chores to turn exercise or tedium into learning experiences.

  • Screams and Silence, also from Code Sw!tch, describes efforts to bring attention to increased reports of Anti-Asian racism.

For those of who prefer to read:

And for those of you wanting to go beyond the challenging stories linked above and get a more three-dimensional perspective of the extremely diverse people who comprise the Asian-American and Pacific Islander community, check out this list of AAPI news sources, blogs and other content.

Thank you!
Quite a few of you have reached out to ask about how my home is recovering from the ice storm ... As I said to one patron, it is so touching to know that people actually read the whole newsletter. It is the best ways for me to connect with our patrons and donors when I cannot do it in person.

Here's the update-- I have heat and air conditioning, a dishwasher, clothes washer, microwave and am on the road to essential repairs to the roofs on my house and garage. The fence will be fixed next month.
It's the most wonderful time of the year: spring
Meet Charlie...He's a rescue from New Mexico and my companion from time-to-time at the theater. He really likes all of the smells out here. He met Tony Zandol, Michael McIntosh, Chris Benham, Chris's daughter, Geri Greeno and Gidget (the dog) in Friday's beautiful sunshine. Whew! With all that visiting, Charlie needed a nap.
If you are one of my Facebook friends, you know I love spring. The longer days and witnessing nature wake from its winter sleep improves my mood and buoys my hope. At the theater today, I saw hummingbirds performing a mating dance, a lazy dragon fly investigating the plants along the ramp and a waltz of fawn lilies (thank you, Alice Norton) along the path. You're invited to come visit me (and maybe Charlie) at the theater.

I hope we will see you at the town hall. We have some great information to share.
Stay safe and well. Mask, maintain distance and get your vaccine as soon as you can.
