The top 100 GenAI consumer apps –

where do GenAI photo & video apps fit in?

It seems like forever since Javier Ideami’s fireside chat session at our Visual 1st conference back in October 2022 wowed us all when showing these new tools to generate stunning AI imagery. But it hasn’t been forever – we’re still barely tipping our toes into what GenAI has in store for us.

[the same can be said for the solutions to counter deepfakes and re-establish trust in photos and videos, which we’ll discuss in detail at our April 10 Re-establishing Trust in Visuals – Untangling the potential solutions Spotlight]

The “1.0-ness” of GenAI products is rubbed in by a new analysis from VC firm Andreessen Horowitz, which found that 40% of the companies included on today's 50 AI web product listing were new, i.e. had not appeared on their previous listing just six months ago.

This time around the researchers compiled a list of GenAI web products, as well as one for mobile apps.

Here are the Top 50 GenAI Web Products:

While it’s not always easy to make the distinction, the following web products are primarily AI tools to create visual content:

Craiyon, Leonardo, Nightcafe, Pixai, Midjourney, Pixlr, Ideogram, InVideo, Runway (the last two focus on video generation; the rest generate images)

These web product are primarily visual editing AI tools:

Playground, Pixelcut, Photoroom, Photomyne, Clipchamp, OpusClip, Veed.io, Cutout.pro (the last four focus on video editing; the rest on image editing)

Here are the Top 50 GenAI Mobile Apps:

These mobile AI-powered apps focus on creating visual content:

ARTA, DaVinci, Epik, Lisa AI, Remini, Artmind, Dawn AI, Imagine, Wonder, Reface, Revive (all focus on image creation)

These mobile AI-powered apps are primarily visual editing apps:

AI Mirror, Evoke, Hypic, PhotoApp, Photoroom, Prequel, SnapEdit, Face Dance, PhotoAI, Photoleap, Pixelcut, Remove It (all focus on image editing)

A few final comments:

  • All mobile apps in the top 50 listings generate or edit photos; top-ranking AI-generated video apps are primarily developed as web apps.

  • Note that Photoroom and Pixelcut made it to both on the top 50 web product and mobile app lists.

  • And finally, congratulations to previous Visual 1st presenters that made on either (or both) lists: Prequel, Photoleap (Lightricks), Photoroom, and Photomyne !

Best,

Hans Hartman
