Renovations begin at affordable housing high-rise near Obama Presidential Center


POAH Midwest has launched a $111M renovation project for Island Terrace Apartments, a high-rise of mostly affordable apartments just blocks from the Obama Presidential Center under construction in Jackson Park. The project will improve longstanding plumbing and electrical issues as well as modernize the building's 240 apartments. Read more


POAH and Caste Capital will renovate Boston Public Library branch / add housing


The City of Boston’s Public Facilities Commission has tentatively designated the development team of Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) and Caste Capital to redevelop the West End branch of the Boston Public Library. The renovation will include a new two-story branch library and 119 income-restricted units of housing above the library through the Housing with Public Assets initiative, an innovative new program designed to maximize the use of municipal properties for the public good. Read more

Former shoe factory preserved as senior housing just north of Boston


POAH has acquired Olympia Square Apartments, a 44-unit, 100% Section 8, fully occupied senior housing building in Lynn, MA - just north of Boston. Formerly known as the Sweetser Block, the building was constructed in 1874 and originally housed a shoe factory. The property was converted to apartments during the early 1980s and has two ground-floor commercial spaces. Read more
