Hello Ken,

Now that the first week of summer break has arrived I hope you find a few moments to decompress and recharge after sprinting to the end of the 2023-24 school year. I am reflecting on my first semester on the school board and the privilege it is to serve as your representative. We are set to pass a budget, while not perfect, that reflects the values I shared during the campaign:

  • 11% raise for teachers - the largest in almost two decades,
  • $12m invest in literacy to bring a science of literacy coach to every elementary school; and
  • A preservation of nearly 15% of expenses in our fund balance to maintain flexibility in the future. For more detail about the budget, see this update.

A few more updates as we head into summer:

  • Board Meeting: Monday, June 3, 2024 at 2:30 pm. Hear an update on the district's literacy program, talent management, the current and proposed budget, a new charter petition, as well as other key topics. See the complete agenda here.
  • The first day of the coming school year is Thursday, August 1! It will be here before you know it. Jot it down now, and relax until then...

Graduation Celebration!

This past week provided enough inspiration to fill up the tank for the next 51 weeks. Please visit the graduation website to relive any of our district graduations.
