WEEKEND BAG

PROGRAM

Delaware City Schools is proud to partner with Delaware County People in Need to provide a small bag of shelf-stable food items to families on Fridays throughout the school year. This program is free of charge to families. If you are interested in being a recipient, please fill out this form.

CLASS DOJO~Don't miss out on the latest information!

In an effort to streamline our grade levels across the building, we will be moving to the Class Dojo app this year for building and classroom communication. Look for building updates, photos and reminders from Mrs. Krell each week as each classroom is connected to the building. As a reminder, teachers are not permitted to communicate with families 1:1 through the communication app. You’ll need to communicate with your child’s teacher by email or phone. Be on the lookout for communication from your child’s teacher for how you can get connected with the school through Class Dojo!

You may have heard your child talk about our new Pacer Period!

Pacer Period is a block of time during each grade level’s academic day in which students participate in intervention and enrichment groups.

Students may be pulled to a small group with a support teacher, stay in their homeroom classroom or go to another grade level teacher’s classroom for academic intervention or enrichment. This is a great opportunity to ask your child what they are learning during Pacer Period!

FLAGS OF FRIENDSHIP

We are enjoying our “Flags of Friendship” display in the lunchroom. Here at Conger, we want all students to feel welcome and included. Each flag represents the nationalities of our students and their families. Please enjoy our display anytime you are in the building.

If you (immediate care giver), or your student come from a country other than the United States, we want to ensure that your heritage is represented. Please email Mrs. Furgiuele at furgiuam@delawarecityschools.net so we can add your flag to our display.

The flags that are currently displayed include; Brazil, South Sudan, Ghana, Mexico, Guatemala, Japan, Puerto Rico, USA, India, and Nepal.   Thank you!

From our School Counselor, Mrs Glissman:

As we continue to roll into this new year, I'm excited to share the focus areas for school counseling and how we’re supporting your child’s development. This month, our school counseling program will focus on explaining my key roles and goals in supporting your child's success. I’ll be introducing and reviewing the various ways I assist students: through classroom guidance lessons that address social and emotional skills, small group counseling sessions that foster peer connections and problem-solving, and short-term individual counseling for more personalized support. These approaches aim to create a nurturing environment where every student feels valued and empowered to overcome challenges.

A key area we’ll focus on is developing academic self-competence. This involves helping students understand their strengths, set realistic goals, and maintain motivation. Parents can play a vital role in this process by encouraging their children to adopt a growth mindset, which means praising their efforts and resilience rather than just their results. Additionally, helping students break large tasks into smaller, manageable steps can make their goals feel more achievable. (For example, if your child needs to clean their room, you can help by breaking the task into smaller, more manageable steps: start by picking up all the clothes and placing them in the laundry basket, then move on to organizing the toys or books, and finally, make the bed and tidy up the desk.) Together, we can support our students in building the confidence and skills they need to thrive academically and personally!

Lifetouch Portrait Studios will be photographing all students on Friday, September 13th during the school day. Parents have the option of purchasing a portrait package at mylifetouch.com using your student's ID number or Conger's Picture Day ID: EVTGKDD69

Watch for order forms that came

home this week.

Picture retake day will be November 13th.

LUNCH BALANCES & CHARGING

This is a reminder regarding our district policy on lunch balances. Starting August 26, 2024, any student with a negative lunch balance of $15 or more will be served an alternate lunch.

To assist in managing this transition, the lunch cashier will be providing a letter to be sent home with each student. This letter will inform parents and guardians of their child's current lunch account status and any necessary actions.

You may add to your child's lunch account online at PaySchools.
