September 2024 Newsletter

Welcome September

What a fantastic summer we had. Thank you to everyone who flew with us, flew in, took lessons, attended our last BBQ, and participated our Summer Airport Tours.

As we welcome September, we would like to remind those pilots who are contemplating avionics upgrades - now is the time! Any questions, talk to Ken or Jack in maintenance.

Looking forward to the fall, be sure to get in your flights after work while you can. The days are getting shorter and before you know it we will be limited to our daylight flying.

Read on to be inspired to go on a fun flight. One of our Princeton Airport based pilots flew up to Niagara Falls for an afternoon and had a blast.

A Day Trip to Niagara Falls, Sounds Great!

Private Pilot Beat Laemmle took a flight to Niagara Falls in a Piper PA-28 this summer. His route was from 39N to KIAG, Niagara Falls International. Total flight time there was about 3 hours. Prior to arriving to KIAG, Beat made four loops around the falls. (See photo)

Beat shared some details of the flight experience when he arrived to KIAG. He contacted the tower and was told to land runway 6. Then he was switched to runway 19 Left which was quite long: 9,826 feet. He parked the plane and went inside the FBO. Good to know for pilots who plan to make a similar trip: the landing fee is waved by purchasing gas. And you also have the option to borrow the crew car for a few hours.

Beat adventured to Goat Island (see photo below), which is located between to the two falls and has awesome views. Upon his arrival back he preflighted the plane and flew back. He said the flights were uneventful, but no news is good news when it comes to flying. He highly recommended the flight!

Going on a trip or have a fun flight to recommend to other pilots. Let us know and we will share it here in our newsletter.

Airport Tours

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Summer Tours this summer. We had a great time sharing our love for aviation and educating the tours on what goes on behind the scenes at the airport. Until our tours come back next summer, feel free to come by for an Introductory Flying Lesson. If you are tall enough to reach the rudders (aka the pedals) you are set to go flying. Next PAFT Meeting Picnic September 11th

Our next PAFT meeting will be Wednesday, September 11th. We are planning an in-person meeting for dinner so we can catch up and share our summer adventures. This will be at Café Graziella, route 206, Hillsborough, at 6pm. Just a reminder that this is a BYO restaurant.

New members, student pilots and guests are welcome.

In the meantime, our breakfast flyins continue. The weather should be great for the Fall, and certainly some of our most scenic times are coming up. Email Ben G if you aren’t on the list for the GroupMe app that coordinates these.

Fly safe,
