North American Council for Freight Efficiency Run on Less
The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) is considering a “Run on Less” evaluation of HD ZEVs in Q3 2021. Sacramento Clean Cities would LOVE to have some Sac Region Fleets and our HD ZEV sponsors participating.

Clean Fuel Corridor on I-80
Clean Fuel Corridor on I-80: The Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition has begun an effort with the Salt Lake City Clean Cities Coalition to establish a clean fuel corridor on Interstate 80 from Sacramento to Salt Lake City. Seven Clean Cities Coalitions are doing the same thing along I-94 from Montana to Michigan.

ZEV Drayage Truck and Infrastructure Grant
CEC and CARB are partnering on a $44.1M grant for ZEV Drayage Trucks, Infrastructure and Workforce Training. The grant is due on February 1, 2021, and a pre-application workshop will be held on December 17, 2020.

Sacramento County Fleet Selected as Top 20 Green Fleet
Sacramento County Fleet has been selected by Heavy Duty Truck as one of America’s Top 20 Green Fleets in 2020 for clean fleet programs including using RNG in the refuse fleet, RD in almost all diesel trucks and equipment, installation of EVSE at multiple sites and implementation of electric and fuel cell light-duty vehicles.

Motiv and Bimbo Bakeries Renew Partnership For More Vehicles
Motiv has completed a one year demonstration of five BEV step vans with Bimbo Bakeries. The Bimbo EVs had a perfect 100% up-time performance, and Bimbo has ordered 23 more that are being manufactured now and is planning to order an additional 100 in 2021.

Lion Electric Announces Vehicle to Grid Collaboration with Nuvve
Lion Electric, a manufacturer of HD BEV buses and trucks, has announced that they have entered into a formal collaboration with Nuvve, a technology company specializing in Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology to make V2G a standard feature on Lion school buses.

Nikola Still on Track
Nikola has faced some tough criticisms in the past few months, but JP Morgan has published their opinion that the criticisms were, “...misconceived,” and that Nikola’s agreements with CNH, Bosh and their pending agreement with GM put them in a good position. Nikola is still planning a network of 700 hydrogen stations across the US and to have a bundled lease that includes everything but tires.

Nissan Plans BEV Pickup
Nissan is planning a BEV version of their Titan pickup truck, and is in talks with a Detroit startup company, Hercules Electric Vehicles to use the Hercules drivetrain. Meanwhile, Hercules is planning their own BEV pickup, the Alpha, a 4-motor, 1,000hp truck with a 300 mile range.

Ford's Mach-E Delivers on Range
Ford’s Mach-E has matched Ford’s previously announced range targets with EPA certifications of the Base Model Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) certified at 230 miles, the Extended Range RWD certified at 300 miles, the Base Model All Wheel Drive (AWD) certified at 211 miles and the Extended Range AWD certified at 270 miles.

The Environmental Defense Fund has released a report suggesting that a more inclusive financing system for heavy-duty electric vehicles should be developed that uses the Total Cost of Electrification, moving from one-on-one replacements to rapid conversion of entire fleets.

Energy Vision Leaders Warn of Environmental Problems Associated with Electrifying
Energy Vision leaders have warned that EVs are not a panacea. They have environmental problems associated with battery materials and operational problems associated with energy density and cold climate operations. Energy Vision argues that currently available renewable fuel options should continue to be used and that alternative ZEV technologies should continue to be developed.

Updated Rules Allow Deployment of Public Heavy-Duty EV Charging Stations
Volvo Trucks, along with Infrastructure providers Trillium and Greenlots, and NGO CALSTART have successfully lobbied the PUC into allowing MD/HD EVSE providers the same option as LD EVSE providers to resell electricity. Previously, only utilities were allowed to sell electricity through MD/HD EVSE.

Energetica, an Italian electric motorcycle company, reported that they sold more electric motorcycles in the first two months of 2020 than in the entire year of 2019.

Refineries Report
California Refineries: For the week ending 11/6/20, refineries in California produced 6,596 barrels of gasoline and 1,800 barrels of diesel. Gasoline production was up by 7.2% and diesel production was down by 19.4% from last week’s production numbers. The 11/16/20 wholesale spot price of propane on the Mont Belvieu Texas board was 55¢ per gallon, up a fraction from the 11/10/20 spot price.
