NorCal Fleet Academy and Expo
SAVE THE DATE for the NorCal Fleet Academy and Expo October 6 & 7, 2021. Sacramento Clean Cities, in partnership with East Bay Clean Cities, NorCal MEMA, NorCal/Nevada NAFA, Sac Metro Air District and Universal Technical Institute will provide training for Fleet Managers, Technicians, Spec Writers and Grant Writers, along with Vehicle and Equipment Displays.
Sacramento Truck Center Demo
The Sacramento Truck Center hosted a demo of their new battery electric trucks, the Class 8 eCascadia and the Class 6/7 eM2. The Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition co-promoted the event.

US EPA DERA Grant Program
The US EPA DERA Grant Program has issued a supplemental $5M grant for tribal and insular communities. Priority is given to projects that achieve significant reduction in diesel emissions in areas designated as having poor air quality.

HVIP Will Open New Voucher Requests
HVIP will open to new voucher requests at 10 a.m on Tuesday, June 8. A total of approximately $82.5M will be available in June, with an additional $82.5M available in August. The FY20-21 Implementation Manual is now available at www.californiahvip.org/im. Additional requirements will apply.

Sac Metro Air District RFP
The Sac Metro Air District has released an $18M RFP. Funding will be available to replace medium and heavy-duty vehicles with zero-emission trucks and buses, install low carbon fueling infrastructure, replace older farm tractors, upgrade locomotives or complete other eligible projects.

SMUD has announced a $1.8M - $3.0M RFP seeking a contractor to provide EV advisory services, electrical engineering/design services, and project management services to support SMUD’s new “Charging as a Service Program.”

CEC Grant Opportunity
The CEC has announced a $7M Grant Opportunity to design, build and operate a 100% renewable hydrogen facility in California. The hydrogen produced will be utilized for transportation fuel.

CARB HD I/M Regulations Workshop
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will hold a Zoom workshop on the proposed HD I/M regulations May 27 from 6pm - 8:30pm. The new regulations will create a much more rigorous I&M program for heavy-duty vehicles

Motiv is one of 13 manufacturers picked by the North American Council on Freight Efficiency (NACFE) to evaluate fleet use of electric delivery vehicles. The Motiv vehicles are being operated by Purolator in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Universal Technical Institute Automotive Technician Training Program
Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has an apprenticeship-type training program for automotive technician students, their “Early Employment Program.” Students receive on-the-job experience while they complete their technical education, and employers have an opportunity to screen potential candidates.

Daimler Partnership with Volvo to Develop Heavy-Duty Fuel Cells
Daimler has also entered into a partnership with Volvo to develop hydrogen fuel cells for heavy-duty trucks. Their joint venture is called “Cellcentric,” with a fuel cell production facility planned to begin in 2025 in Europe.

General Motors Updates Bolt Battery Recall
General Motors has updated their Bolt battery safety recall. GM dealers will perform specific diagnostic tests, make specific repairs, as well as install battery monitoring software to detect developing issues before they become a problem. 2019 Bolts may be upgraded at dealerships now. 2017 & 2018 Bolt upgrades available by the end of May.
