- Funding includes set-asides for tribal governments

Pre-Solicitation Work Group for Adult Education and Vocational Schools
|
|
January 6 - Virtual
- $1.5 million in the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Funding Plan for Clean Transportation Incentives Workforce Training & Development Investment
- Allocated for adult education and vocational schools to provide clean transportation training in or serving priority populations.
- Focus areas include:
- Developing new or strengthening zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) and infrastructure curriculum, training, partnerships, and other program elements
- Providing skill-building and workforce development, and promoting pathways to clean transportation jobs
- Expanding enrollment, education, and career opportunities that directly serve low-income and disadvantaged communities
- Prioritizing projects that serve communities in areas of the state (such as rural) that tend to be overlooked for funding
- CARB to release a competitive solicitation in the form of a Request for Proposals in early 2023
- Existing adult education and vocational school programs are the focus of this solicitation

DOE Evaluates EV Infrastructure Vulnerability
|
|
The charging infrastructure is vulnerable to failures from minor local disruptions to long-term national disruptions, and from cyber attacks to communications, network operations, cloud services and grid operations. DOE has contracted with Sandia Labs to study these issues and identify coping strategies.

Ford's Move to In-House Component Production
|
|
Ford has announced their plans to manufacture their EV components in-house rather than purchasing them from vendors. Ford is building two battery manufacturing plants in Kentucky and an auto manufacturing campus in Tennessee.

Renewable Fuels Necessary
|
|
The Diesel Technology Forum hosted a panel discussion of worldwide energy supply and demand and recognized that renewable fuels will play a key role in moving the global economy toward lower carbon emissions.

Buick Dealers' Mandatory Investments
|
|
GM has informed their Buick dealerships that they will be required to invest a minimum of $300K in staff training, maintenance equipment and facility upgrades in order to be qualified to sell EVs. This comes as the vehicle manufacturer moves toward increased EV production while dealerships are concerned about the sales volume potential and the return on this investment.
|
|
VW has announced that they are going to implement a $1,500 price hike on their ID.4 EV due to the increased costs of the battery materials.
|
