The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has announced planning grants to provide technical assistance to create customized bus electrification plans.

PHEV Battery Failures are Rare
|
|
A study by Recurrent of about 15,000 vehicles from model years 2016 to 2023 show battery replacement rates due to failure were well under 1% and most of those would have been covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

Sacramento Area Sewer District Bio-methane & Hydrogen
|
|
Ameresco has signed a $140M contract with the Sacramento Area Sewer District to use waste water for the production of bio-methane and hydrogen.

Environmental Justice Online Resources
|
|
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the creation of an on-line clearinghouse of resources related to environmental justice.
|

OEMs Lose $6K Per EV Sold
|
|
According to a study by the Boston Consulting Group, on average, OEMs lose $5K per $50K EV sold after taking any tax credits into consideration. Their analysis did not show this gap closing and it could get worse if Chinese EVs that are heavily gain a foothold in the US.

Tesla Facing Financial Problems
|
|
Tesla has announced the layoff of 10% of their workforce and two top-level executives have also resigned, as Tesla’s market share in China, Europe and the US has been dropping and Tesla has failed to meet sales objectives.
|
|
Tesla has recalled all 3,878 2024 Cybertrucks for accelerator pedals stuck in the accelerate position. There have been no crashes or injuries, and application of the brake pedal will disengage the accelerate mode.

Historic Steam Locomotive "Final Spike" Tour
|
|
The Empress 2816, a steam locomotive built in 1930 and fully restored by the Canadian Pacific Railway will depart Calgary and tour Canada, the US and Mexico celebrating the merger of the Canadian Pacific with the Kansas City Southern creating the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway. The tour runs through the Midwest and Texas.

Hydrogen Powers HD Vehicles
|
|
Hydrogen is gaining in recognition as a logical low- to zero-emission fuel to power transportation. Hydrogen that can be made from a wide variety of sources including bio-sources and water.
|
|
California Average Grid Electricity Carbon Intensity:
California average grid electricity used as a transportation fuel in California: 79.43 to 81.49gCO2e/MJ.

|
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
|
|
- Engine and infrastructure compatibility—SAF blended with conventional Jet A can be used in existing aircraft and infrastructure.
-
Fewer emissions—Compared with conventional jet fuel, 100% SAF has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 94%.
- More flexibility—SAF is a replacement for conventional jet fuel, allowing for multiple products from various feedstocks and production technologies.
