The Plug-in Electric Vehicle Collaborative’s Disadvantaged Communities Committee (PEV DAC) has published a grant application template and called for regional projects to be submitted. The template contains:

Proposed In-Use Locomotive Regulation

  • The Governor’s Executive Order N-79-20 calls for 100 percent of off-road vehicles and equipment operations to be zero-emission by 2035.
  • The goal of this proposed regulation is to accelerate immediate adoption of advanced cleaner technologies for all locomotive operations.

  • All public agency fleets and all private fleets with 50+ vehicles or $50M in revenue
  • Applies to all vehicles 8,500+ lb GVWR
  • Mandates ZEV purchases 50% by 2024, 100% by 2027; or fleet percent ZEV on a schedule

Bradley Northrup (City of Carlsbad) and David Renschler (City of Fairfield and Sacramento Clean Cities Stakeholder) met with staff from 20 members of congress, briefing them on fleet requirements related to EV Infrastructure.

Ford EV Dealership Changes
Ford dealerships will have to choose to become “Model E” (EV passenger cars), ”Ford Pro” (commercial vehicles) and/or “Blue Oval” (ICE vehicles). Model E dealerships will have two levels: “Model E Certified” (must install one DCFC) or “Model E Elite” (must install two DCFC). The EV dealership upgrades are expected to run $500K to $1.2M, and may include fixed-price sales (i.e. no price negotiations).

Hertz 175,000 EV Commitment
Hertz has signed an agreement with GM to purchase 175,000 EVs in the next five years. The brand names to be purchased include Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac and BrightDrop.

Bridgestone Natural Rubber Tires "Grown" in the US
A heat-tolerant plant, guayule, native to the Southwest, can be grown using conventional row-crop farming. Guayule’s branches, bark and roots can be harvested as a natural and renewable source of rubber, and Bridgestone tires made from guayule at their Mesa, Arizona plant, ran on IndyCars this year.

Doroni VTOL "Personal EV Aircraft"
The “H1” is a two-seat, 500 pound payload aircraft manufactured by Doroni. Lift and propulsion comes from four ducted fans, two-each front and back. It will be certified as a Light Sport Aircraft, only requiring a standard driver’s license and 20 hours of training. With a range of 60 miles and a top speed of 140mph, it will come with wheels so it can be “driven” and parked in a standard garage and a parachute for added safety. The $150K EV will begin sales in 2024.
