CARB Solicitation for Adult Education & Vocational School ZEV Technology Training
  • Develop new or strengthen existing workforce training and development programs
  • Increase awareness of Zero-Emission Vehicle training, education, and jobs
  • Projects must benefit a California-based, accredited, non-profit adult education or vocational school
  • Programs should focus on working with and enrolling students from priority populations
  • All work must be completed March 31, 2026

  • Diesel Emission Reduction Act for 2023
  • $115M to reduce emissions from the nation’s existing fleet of older diesel engines

CEC $38M for EVSEs in Low-Income and DAC Communities
  • Rebates are available for installations by businesses, nonprofits, tribes and public entities
  • Covers 50% of project cost up to $100K
  • Awards will be based in part on project readiness.
  • Funding Opens on Sept. 13 and closes on Dec 12.

El Dorado Air District EV & EVSE Incentives
The El Dorado Air District has a $599 “Drive Clean” incentive for El Dorado County residents who buy an EV (pre-approval is required) and they are developing a $300 “CHARGE” incentive for home EVSE.

US Gain is supplying Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) for hydrogen production which can have Carbon Index (CI) scores as low as negative 300.

Kenworth T680 Hydrogen Truck
Kenworth has announced limited commercial production of their Class 8 T680 truck tractor powered by the Toyota Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology in 2024 with full production in 2025.

The US Department of Defense has signed a $90M agreement with chemical manufacturing company Albemarle to increase domestic lithium production for battery manufacturing.

Aemetis has received a use permit to build a $90 million gallon per year Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Renewable Diesel (RD) facility in Riverbank, California.

House Passes "Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act"
The US House of Representatives passed the “Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act” on 214 Republican and 8 Democrat votes. The Act would prevent states from mandating EVs.

Kia EV9 - A Scaled-Up Soul with 3 Row Seating and 300 Mile Range
The Kia Soul EV9, a full SUV due out in 2024 will have 270+ miles of range in all models and 300 on some. The EV9 is warranted for up to 19.5” of “Water fording” and has a towing capacity of 5,000#.

A report is available that was prepared by CERES for the UC Berkeley’ Center for Law, Energy, & the Environment titled, “A Guidebook for Responsible Corporate Engagement Throughout the Supply Chain” that focuses on Critical minerals mining, Second life and recycling and Battery traceability is available.

Toyota Solid State Battery Timeline
Toyota has announced that they expect to have solid state batteries ready for commercial deployment in 2027 or 2028, after advancements are made in solid state battery longevity. By that time, they expect to have batteries capable of 1,000km range that can be recharged in 10 minutes.
