The California Department of Motor Vehicles advises that they have begun placing registration renewal “Holds” on trucks that have not complied with the Clean Truck Check regulation.

  • Program runs until all funds are allocated

CEC GFO-23-607 - Tribal Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, Planning, and Workforce Development
  • The purpose of this solicitation is to provide funding for Tribes, Tribal Organizations, and Tribally-owned businesses for:
  • Project Activity 1 – EV Charging Infrastructure: installing charging infrastructure for passenger and medium- and heavy-duty (MDHD) EV charging equipment, supporting infrastructure, and associated resiliency technologies.
  • Project Activity 2 – EV Infrastructure Planning: activities to support tribal participation in future EV funding opportunities and to enable tribes to plan for EV adoption.
  • Project Activity 3 – EV Workforce Training and Development: activities that support careers in EVs, EV infrastructure, and EV-related technologies.
  • $400,000 - $3,000,000 per award ($10,000,000 total)

Ford Delays EVs, Increases Hybrids
Ford has announced that they will delay the introduction of their next-gen EV Pickup until 2026 and the SUV EV until 2027, and plan to have hybrid versions of all ICE vehicles.

Ford EV Update
Ford has dropped the price of the Lightning by $5,500 and on the Lariet Extended Range by $2,500. On the Mach-E, Ford has improved charge time by 20% and improved performance using a Ford-designed motor.

Alternative Fuel Insight
Cummins' Disaster Relief at Zero-Emission
Cummins has developed a Class 7, Zero-emission Fuel Cell Truck equipped to function for 70 hours as a mobile command center without refueling. The vehicle is capable of powering both the necessary communications, computers and other command center equipment as well as providing up to 70 kW of exportable power for on-site power requirements.

Ballard Power Systems is planning to build a three gigawatt fuel cell factory in Texas.

Multiple sources have stated that Tesla will abandon their low-cost EV plans. Reuters has indicated that they have seen internal company messages confirming it.

Stellantis' CEO Says Battery Breakthrough is Needed
Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, parent company of Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep, Fiat, Pugeot, Citroen, Alpha Romeo, Opel, Lancia, Maserati, Opel and Vauxhall, says that a battery breakthrough will be needed to make EVs “Green” due to the significant additional raw materials needed to make EVs compared to ICEs.

Both Connecticut and Maine have chosen to delay the 2035 ban on the sale of ICEs.

Renewable Fuels Breakthrough
CoverCress (CCI) has been named a Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) Pioneers 2024 winner for developing a winter cover crop (pennycress) that can fit into corn and soybean field rotation. Pennycress has a high seed oil content, making it ideal for producing drop-in renewable fuels and the plant itself makes excellent animal feed.
