Nikola Becomes Publicly Traded Company

Nikola
, a Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition sponsor and manufacturer of hydrogen and electric truck tractors and pickup trucks, has recently become a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq exchange (NKLA), has signed a $30M purchase for 85MWs of hydrogen production equipment from NEL to produce 8 tons per day of hydrogen at each of their first five hydrogen stations.

will begin taking pre-orders for their “Badger” electric pickup truck this month and are preparing to break ground in Arizona to build their American truck manufacturing facility. European truck manufacturing will begin in Ulm, Germany in 2021.

Prometheus Fuels Develops Technology For Renewable Electricity

Prometheus Fuels is a company that has developed a technology for using 100% renewable electricity from solar and wind to make gasoline by extracting CO2 and water vapor in the air. BMW has recently invested in Prometheus Fuels, and they say that this renewable gasoline will be available for sale in California by the end of this year.

Holland has a number of internal canals. The barges that operate on those waterways contribute about 5% of Holland’s GHG emissions. Now, a barge is being developed to run on clean and quiet electric motors powered by batteries that will be loaded onto the barges in cargo containers.

Lordstown Motors Pickup Truck

Lordstown Motors plans to be selling their “Endurance” pickup truck by Q1, 2021. They are getting the 6.2 million square foot former GM factory in Ohio ready for production, and are able to move this quickly because of their partnership with Workhorse, allowing them to use much of the tech developed for the Workhorse W15.

Mr. Saehoon Kim, Senior Vice President and head of Hyundai Motor Company’s Fuel Cell Center, has indicated that Hyundai (in partnership with Toyota) sees a strong future in hydrogen fuel cell zero-emission vehicles of all weight classes, from Light-duty to Heavy-duty and Off-road.

Prodded by Nikola’s announcement that they will begin manufacturing their heavy-duty EVs/FCVs in Germany in 2021, and will be breaking ground in Arizona for their US EV/FCV truck production, Tesla has announced that they will initiate a ramp up of commercial production of the Tesla Semi. Battery and drivetrain production will happen at the Tesla Giga Factory in Nevada. The location of the vehicle factory has not yet been selected.

Las Vegas RTC To Implement Hydrogen Transit Buses

Las Vegas RTC has received a grant from the US Department of Transportation to implement hydrogen transit buses and hydrogen refueling infrastructure.
|

For the week ending 6/5/20, refineries in California produced 244,440 gallons of gasoline and 87,864 gallons of diesel. This represents INCREASE in gasoline production of 2%, and a 14% INCREASE in diesel production from last week.
