GM Moving to Tesla Charging
GM has announced that they will begin delivering cars in 2024 with adaptors for the North American Charging Standard (NACS - the “Tesla” system) and apparently stop building cars with CCS ports beginning in 2025.

Grid Reliability Threatened
Experts are worried that moving too quickly on the path to eliminating fossil fuels for the generation of electricity will result in power shortages that will result in rolling blackouts and extended periods without electricity that could result in an increase in deaths.
Tesla will issue a recall (recall number SB-23-32-001) for some 2022 and 2023 Model Y vehicles because the steering wheel fastener may come loose. Tesla Service will inspect and replace if necessary.

UK Off-Shore Wind - A Dire Warning to US
The use of off-shore wind for power generation in the UK has contributed significantly to the dramatic increase in the cost of energy in Britain. A short list of the issues with wind energy include: Very high construction costs, very high maintenance costs, inability to deliver rated power consistently, remote location of generation sites versus consumption sites and near-zero system inertia for frequency stability.

Wind and Solar Production Drop
Federal energy data sources have reported that last week’s winds were lighter than predicted causing wind energy production to drop below expected levels and smoke from Canadian wildfires reduced solar energy production. Due to these combined weather events, additional natural gas was needed to generate the energy necessary to make up the difference.
