Sacramento Clean Cities' Fleets Make the Top 100
|
|
NAFA has named their selections for the top 100 public agency fleets in the US and two of the top 100 are from the ranks of the Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition: The City of Fairfield and the City of Roseville. Sacramento is also home to two of the top commercial fleets, Fluid Truck and Superior Linen.

- Eligible vehicles include: Class 6 & 7 vehicles

NREL $5M Clean Bus Planning Program

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has announced planning grants to provide technical assistance to create customized bus electrification plans.
- Applications for assistance are open on a rolling basis through Sept. 30, 2024

- Environmental and Climate Justice grants

Ford Cuts MachE Prices $5K
|
|
Ford has pledged to drop the price of the Mach-E by $5K but it does not appear to be enough to staunch the losses. In Q1 2024, Ford lost a whopping $1.3B on EV sales ($132K per EV for 10,000 vehicles sold) with sales down 20% and revenue down 84%.

Mullen Automotive has hit a milestone by manufacturing their 500th commercial electric vehicle at their Tunica, Mississippi factory.

Cummins' Analysis of Alt Fuels
|
|
Cummins has surveyed the advantages and disadvantages of a range of alternative fuels:
- Renewable Diesel – Drop-in replacement for fossil diesel
- Biodiesel – Drop-in replacement for fossil diesel in blends up to 20%
- Natural Gas – Growing rapidly replacing diesel around the world
- Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) – Low-carbon alternative to fossil natural gas
- RNG Blended with Renewable Hydrogen (RH2) – Many interesting benefits
- RH2 – Expected to be a common solution for MD/HD vehicles
- Ammonia – Easy to store, transport and handle

California Energy Storage Milestone

California has passed the 10,000 megawatt hour milestone for battery storage capacity in the state, up from 770 megawatt hours in 2019.

Polestar 10% to 80% Charge in 10 Minutes
|
|
Polestar has announced that using a 375kW DCFC on an experimental 77kWh battery pack, they have achieved an 80% charge in 10 minutes. The battery is an advanced Li-Ion battery. The durability of the battery at these very high charging power levels will be evaluated.
