145 Canyon Road Project Wraps Up

The Department of Public Works has completed the 145 Canyon Road Re-stabilization Project within budget at a final construction cost of $424,246. The project involved the removal of a failing retaining wall along the sensitive habitat of San Anselmo Creek and replacing it with a new retaining wall and paving. Failure of the pre-existing wall could have resulted in the closure of Canyon Road, isolating the residents and restricting access to emergency responders. Except for intermittent closures, the road remained open for resident access and deliveries during the duration of the project.

The Town of Fairfax was assisted by Miller Pacific Engineering Group and Restoration Design Group on design and inspection, Whitman, Requardt and Associates on biological monitoring, and RWR Construction.

Fairfax says goodbye to Age-Friendly Yoga Instructor, Tamela Smith

We are sorry to announce that after eight wonderful years with Tamela Smith as our leader in Age-Friendly yoga classes, Tamela will be leaving the area and no longer able to provide in-person classes.

Tamela’s last day to teach all in-person classes will be Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

The Town of Fairfax is committed to keeping these important offerings available to our community and is working on a transition plan whereby Tamela will still be able to teach online over zoom until we can find a replacement.
