It was a busy year for members of the MSCA. We had to deal with raw material cost increases, labor shortages and supply chain issues.

As an association, we tried to assist by holding events in which we either discussed as a group or brought in outside experts to help shed light on potential solutions.

Here are the highlights of our busy 2021 schedule. Please note that all of the materials covered are available at our website.
January:

We held a virtual meeting on Zoom and were treated with presentations by new members Nucor, KW Commercial and Bevolution.

March:

Another virtual Zoom meeting featuring Micheal Alter of Florida Makes, who brought membership up to speed on the Connex supply chain database, which is available to members. Connex Florida is an online capabilities database and connection platform created for Florida manufacturers. Connex helps your company adapt to changing market demands, connect to an array of resources and locate new business opportunities by identifying new suppliers and customers. Visit website
April:

A Zoom meeting featuring Duke Mills of Work Comp Solutions. Duke and Morgan covered issues to lower you risk and lower your premiums. Visit Website
June:

A Zoom meeting featuring Howard Drake of Polk Corporate College on Cyber Security. Click to see presentation

A Zoom meeting featuring Toni Joyce of Florida Makes. Toni presented on the IMT Apprenticeship program. Youtube
July:

Virtual Round Table meeting of membership. This open forum which was led by Larry Bull, president of MSCA and owner of Createch covered several relevant topics including the labor shortage and supply chain issues.
July:

Our first in person meeting in over a year because of Covid was held at Catapult. Ashley Cheek of the LEDC hosted our tour of this new facility that facilitates start up enterprises. Visit Website

September:

The 2nd Annual Manufacturer's Challenge Cup was held at Streamsong. We had 128 golfers and raised funds that support manufacturing scholarships. Florida's Caribbean Distillers claimed the cup in 2021! Kevin Bailey of MaxPak (the 2020 winners), presented the cup to the team.
November:

Another in person meeting at Grasslands Country Club featured David Dragon of Florida Makes. David presented on Industry 4.0. Presentation
December:

Our final get together for the year was an after hours social event at Swan Brewing. Owner and master brewer Dan Thurmberg led us on a tour of his operation and gave us an inspiring story of his start up experience just a few years ago. Visit Website
