Over 300 PTA leaders attend Summer Leadership Conference

Over 300 unit and council PTA leaders gathered on the campus of University of San Diego on June 3 for a day of learning. "It was great to be back in person", said Derick Boerner, Ninth District PTA President. "We were amazed to learn that 80 per cent of the attendees were first-timers!"

The day started with a general meeting to install the new Ninth District PTA officers and hear Carol Green, California State PTA president, give an inspiring keynote address on leading a volunteer organization with heart. Then attendees split up to attend the workshops of their choice, chatting with other PTA leaders and visiting the exhibitors.

"We were excited to meet some of our newest PTA leaders and can't wait to see how they will bring the PTA mission to their school communities," said Helen Crenshaw, Summer Leadership Conference chairperson.

National PTA Dues Increase

Results to be announced June 24

National PTA has proposed a $1.75 dues increase to go into effect on October 1, 2023. This would increase the portion of the dues going to National PTA from $2.25 to $4.00 per member. The dues increase must be approved by 2/3rds of the voting delegates during the National PTA virtual convention. Delegates voted on June 15. Results will be announced on June 24, 2023.
