Hurricane Kit Event

Last year's hurricanes highlighted the importance of always being prepared for bad weather and storms. This is why the Healthy Start Coalition of Orange County worked to create hurricane kits for our Healthy Start families. Several Commissioners, Representatives and community members came out to help put the kits together. The kits included items such as first aid kits, coloring books, hand crank radios, flashlights, a blanket, a document holder, and more all in a waterproof orange bag. A big thank you to everyone who helped us ensure that Healthy Start families in Orange County are prepared in the coming months!

For information on how you can create your own hurricane kit, check out the Orange County, Florida Government website: https://www.orangecountyfl.net/emergencysafety/hurricanesafetyguide.aspx

Since May is Preeclampsia Awareness month, it presents an opportunity to educate the public on signs and symptoms of preeclampsia in order to prevent any poor pregnancy outcomes. It is important pregnant women are aware and seek medical care if any of these symptoms are present. Reach out to your healthcare provider or Healthy Start today for more education on Preeclampsia.
