All “Succession Planning Seminar” Sessions

Now Available for Viewing

The six sessions that comprised the fall 2023 full-day seminar on “Succession Planning” geared toward signatory contractors in the Chicagoland construction industry are now all posted for viewing using an exclusive “Dropbox” link.

The videos can also be accessed on the website of the Plumbing Contractors Association of Greater Chicago (www.pcaofchicago.com). All are conveniently arranged (and edited) as separate segments.

The in-person seminar held on 11/16/23 was jointly presented in Willowbrook, IL by seven signatory employers/contractors associations in Northern Illinois: the PCA of Greater Chicago; MCA of Chicago; ECA Chicago; Northeastern IL NECA Chapter; Eastern IL NECA Chapter; Northern IL Fire Sprinkler Board; and SMACNA Greater Chicago under the banner of the MEP Coordinating Committee.

The individual sessions focus on the following topics related to succession planning: Accounting (presented WIPFLI - Paul Lally & Dave Friedman); Insurance (by Federated Insurance – Kenny Keil); Legal (Chitkowski Law Office – Jason Loebach); and Family Dynamics (The Alera Group – John Fisher). Two moderated panel session videos are also featured: the first is made up of 9 local contractors from the Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing (MEP) trades, and the second includes all the expert speakers from the 4 key sessions. Continuing with the NECA - IIT Student Chapter updates concerning the Electrical Contracting Innovation Challenge sponsored by NECA and ELECTRI International, the ECA Student Committee would like to thank Ryan Hubert, Director of Fabrication, Kelso-Burnett Co. (pictured on the left) for his special presentation held during the fourth Student Chapter session on Thursday, February 1, 2024 regarding Virtual Design & Construction Services, as this year’s ECIC primarily concerns BIM use, among other areas concerning a project. 

He discussed various aspects of Virtual Design & Construction Services throughout the duration of a project, including the following topic areas: Capabilities: Virtual Design – 3D model population, 3D BIM coordination, detailed installation drawings; Design & Engineering - Design-Build, Design-Assist & Value Engineering, Quality Control; Construction Services: Trimble Robotic Station, testing services, Data vaults / Smart boxes, 3D scanning, Hologens – mixed reality. He also discussed the Request to the GC concerning project construction schedule, pre-construction schedule, BIM Execution Plan, Revit models, Autodesk, CAD files, Navisworks aspects, Building Control and Document Sharing Platform.

This year's auction will accessible on a mobile app for easy bidding at the Dinner Dance. Each donation item/package must carry a minimum value of $200.

Each donor will be recognized for their contribution with a sign displayed in front of their donation at the auction. They will also be recognized on the bidding app and after the event in ElectriCITY magazine.

Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention

It is an unfortunate fact that construction has the highest rate of suicide of any industry in America. We lose about 53 out of every 100,000 members of our industry EVERY YEAR to suicide. We are four times the average of other industries. We have a crisis in construction and we need to do something about it. We urge all to take the pledge to STAND UP for suicide prevention and address it as a health and safety priority.
