Chamber May Luncheon

11:30am to 1:00pm
We will be at the DeForest Area Library celebrating their 20th Anniversary at 203 Library Street, in DeForest! The library staff will share the many different programs and resources they provide in our community! Tours will be available following the presentation!

We will have Dan Jardine, President of the Friends of the Yahara River Headwaters, Inc., sharing a summary of the organizations plans for 2022 and upcoming river clean-up opportunities!

Dan will also share highlights of the upcoming DeForest Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony taking place on Monday, May 30th, at Veterans Memorial Park starting at 11:45am.

Why low motivation is so prevalent right now and steps to regain traction.
Presented by Jennifer Worley

These are challenging times when it comes to motivation and engagement. From Parked to Driven will look at how the past year and a half has impacted many people’s sense of motivation and explore 4 concepts & strategies to begin regaining traction. This presentation will include time for questions or conversation. 

Jennifer has 16 years of experience in the mental health and emotional wellness field. A public school counselor, a private practice therapist, a clinician in a medical setting & a trained trauma informed yoga instructor, she has seen how emotional wellness intersects with many factors for people and society.

DeForest FFA Plant Sale
in the Greenhouse at 615 Jefferson Street, DeForest

The greenhouse plant sale would not be possible without the cooperation of the Horticulture Class and the FFA Chapter. The FFA supplies the funds to purchase all of the supplies needed, including soil, seeds, fertilizer, pots, trays, and more.

The profits go to the FFA to be used by the chapter as well as preparation for the following horticulture class.

Dane County Kind
First Community Connect Event
Saturday, May 7th from 1-3PM
at Lilliana's Restaurant
Kindness Bank just created a new type of meetup group called Dane County Kind.

We are co-hosting this first event with Paulo Delgado the founder Facebook group called Dane County Neighbors.

Limited free tickets are still available at Eventbrite> Dane County Kind. You can also join our meetup group at meetup> Madison> Dane County Kind.

Kindness Bank will also be selling Impact of Kindness kits where proceeds help fund resources and operational costs of Kindness Bank.

DeForest Area High School is planning Reality Day,
which will be held on May 11, 2022! 
  
What is Reality Day? Reality Day is a fun, interactive financial literacy simulation for all high school seniors to learn the realities of life after high school or college. Visit the Reality Day webpage for more information and see details from 2019, which was the last in-person event.

If you have not participated in our Reality Day before, please consider doing so.  
You won't regret it! It's a fun, educational event for our graduating seniors. Those of you who have done this in the past, please feel free to share your thoughts.

Volunteers
Set up will be available at Comfort Inn & Suites beginning at 7:00 am. Stations should be ready to go by 8:15 am. A brief orientation for volunteers will be given at 8:25.

Schedule
Students will be bussed to the Comfort Inn & Suites (5025 Cty. Hwy. V, DeForest) in three shifts - 8:45, 9:20 and 9:55 am. It will take approximately 2-2 ½ hours to complete all Reality Day activities, with everyone finishing by 12:30.

Donations
  • Raffle Prizes:  Students will have the opportunity to earn raffle tickets by investing or donating their money. We are in need of several raffle prizes!
  • Event Support:  Monetary donations are appreciated to defray the costs of transportation, facility rental, refreshments, supplies, and lunch for students.

The Dragon Arts Group is gearing up for the 
16th Annual Dragon Art Fair 
to be held Saturday, June 4th from 9:00AM to 4:00PM 
With 100 amazing local & regional artists working in all medias, family entertainment and great local food, the Dragon Art Fair is sure to have something for everyone. Located in Fireman’s Park, the fair offers a walkable park setting, easy access and adjacent parking, all of which provide an enjoyable experience for both artists and guests. Our silent auction, with 50+ items donated by our generous artists and community businesses, provides an opportunity have fun and support the Dragon Arts Group Scholarship fund.
