The Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) held its April Membership meeting on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Union League Club of Chicago.
The luncheon program featured industry updates, and guest presentations from Grant Ullrich, Managing Deputy Commissioner, Chicago Department of Buildings (DOB) and Jared Policicchio, Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer who discussed Chicago's proposed "Clean and Affordable Buildings Ordinance."

Contracting with M/WBE Vendors - The Do's and Don'ts | |
The ECA Research and Education Committee and the ECA DEI Committee proudly sponsored a complimentary program called, "Contracting with M/WBE Vendors- The Do's and The Don'ts" Seminar. This was a Pre-Membership Meeting event that was held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Union League Club of Chicago.
Ms. Neely offered insight into the essential guidelines and pitfalls to avoid when engaging with minority and women-owned businesses in the electrical contracting industry. Attendees reviewed strategies for diversity, compliance, and partnerships.

"Reasonable Suspicion" Seminar | |
The Safety Committee and the ECA Research and Education Committee were proud to have sponsored the "Reasonable Suspicion" seminar. The complimentary program was held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Maggiano's Banquets in Oak Brook, IL.
The session was facilitated by Bill Heffernan, co-founder of Employee Resource Systems, Inc. (ERS) and ScreenSafe, Inc.

NECA - IIT Student Chapter Update | |
The ECA Student Committee would like to thank Mike Meyer, ECA Student Committee Chair, Director of Construction Operations, Continental Electrical Construction Company, for his assistance with a company warehouse visit on Friday, April 5, 2024, to offer the students a unique perspective of BIM utilization realized on a project – specially, use of a robotic total station, as this year’s ECIC primarily concerns BIM use, among other areas concerning a project.

The recent Joint Safety Forum, "Workplace Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Training,” hosted by the Safety Committee's of the Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) and the Northeastern Illinois Chapter of NECA, as well as by PowerForward DuPage was well attended. Over 40 registered for the complementary program that was held on April 26, 2025 at DuPage / Local 701 JATC in Warrenville, IL.
