2024 Roatan Cross-Border Recap
ELECTRI May Recap
ELECTRI is looking for additional participants for the following research projects. Please consider signing up for one or both projects or asking someone else from your company to participate.
Applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI): We need to interview contractors who have some level of real experience using AI in construction. This will help us to determine the ways in which AI should or should not be used in electrical construction based on practice-based evidence. Please use this Calendar Link to sign up to participate in an interview.
Cost of Inexperience and Schedule Compression: Inexperience in construction impacts how projects are delivered in terms of schedule, cost, and quality. With the looming labor cliff and the ever-growing need to deliver infrastructure and buildings projects for our communities, we need to understand how inexperience is affecting our projects today to start to collaboratively build solutions for the future. To those who are willing to share their professional experience, please reach out Amelia Celoza (Amelia.Celoza@Colorado.edu) to schedule a call if you are interested.
ELECTRI ConTech & Coffee: June 20th at 11AM Eastern
This month’s ConTech and Coffee will focus on Mapping your Tech Stack: A Practical Guide. Understanding and communicating the technology at work within your company is essential for success. This session provides practical steps to quickly map your technology resources and how to communicate about these resources to non-technical staff.
ELECTRI Council Room Session: June 27th at 3PM Eastern
The next ELECTRI Council Room Session will focus on ELECTRI’s upcoming research, Managing to Fair Outcomes for Out-of-Sequence Work and Schedule Compression for Electrical Contractors. The discussion will be led by the researcher Dr. Timothy Becker, P.E., and he will summarize various implications of out-of-sequence work and schedule compression from his research.
This research project engaged more than 40 electrical contractors in 4 workshops to explain the many causes and effects of out-of-sequence work and schedule compression. These schedule changes result in lost productivity, added cost, and often frustration. Through the proactive use of the management tools proposed in the research, electrical contractors will be able to consider risks, track impacts, and ultimately seek fair compensations for out-of-sequence work and schedule compression. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the researcher and share their experiences and best practices with navigating with out-of-sequence work and schedule compression.
ELECTRI is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

ELECTRI Happenings
Wesco International has just launched a $100,000 scholarship program in partnership with ELECTRI International to support the next generation of skilled tradespeople in the U.S. electrical industry. Learn More about the NECA and ELECTRI Project Management Apprenticeship by contacting Anna Jochim.
Welcome to Helen McKinley: ELECTRI is pleased to welcome Helen McKinley to our team. Helen will serve as the Administrative Assistant for ELECTRI, and you should be hearing from her in the near future on matters such as pledge payments. She can be reached at Helen.McKinley@electri.org.
New ELECTRI Research Engagement Hub! In order for ELECTRI’s research projects to provide valuable information, we need input and data from our contractors. ELECTRI has created a new webpage, the Research Engagement Hub, which will be updated throughout the year with new opportunities to be involved with ELECTRI’s research efforts. Please bookmark this page and visit it frequently to take part in ELECTRI’s research initiatives.
Remember to Register for the ELECTRI Council Summer Meeting, July 15-17th in Boston. With well over 100 registrations, rooms are filling fast. If you have any questions, contact Laura.Holmes@electri.org .
Check Out ELECTRI’s NEW Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Research:
Inconsistency breeds inefficiency’ is a fundamental principle that resonates across various industries, including the electrical construction industry, emphasizing the importance of standardized processes. SOPs set up the project for success by establishing consistency, standardization, teamwork, and a shared vision for how projects are executed. With the shortage of workers and the generation changes, SOPs are becoming critical for the success of the project (productivity, cost, schedule, quality, and communication, among others), transferring skills, and the overall continuity of contractors.
ELECTRI appreciates your assistance with this research. If you have any questions about the research, please contact Amanda Harbison, ELECTRI’s Director of Research, at Amanda@electri.org.
