Outdoor Cinema Series - Star Wars: The Force Awakens

May the 4th be with you! Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to watch a free movie in the park on our inflatable screen. Concessions available for purchase, though all welcome to bring coolers and picnic baskets but NO glass bottles and NO pets. The movie will begin at dusk, approximately 8:40pm.

Following the outdoor movie, join us for an awesome evening of s'mores and camping. Campers will receive a voucher for a free snack to enjoy during the movie, the opportunity to campout on the baseball field overnight, and a light breakfast in the morning. $15 for Cornelius residents of 1-4 people (up to 2 additional campers $5 each), $20 for non-residents of 1-4 people (up to two additional campers $6 each). Registration is required for camping as space is limited. The movie is free for everyone!

2nd Friday Street Festival

Cornelius Jazz Festival

Join Cornelius Parks & Rec and the Smithville CommUNITY Coalition for an evening of jazz, food trucks, local beer and wine, children's activities, local businesses and artists, and more! Musical performances by Holly Hopkins Jazz and Adrian Crutchfield. Free and open to all ages. Don't forget your chairs or blankets to enjoy the show, but NO pets, NO smoking, NO e-cigs or vaping, NO open flames, NO tents, and NO glass containers are allowed. This year’s keynote speaker will be WWII Veteran Allan Jones. After the ceremony, join us in the lobby for light refreshments. Free and appropriate for all ages.

Registration for our 2024 Summer Camps is off to an awesome start, with many camps already sold out. There are still opportunities remaining, though, from STEM camps like Rocket Olympics, to dozens of sports camps, and even some weeks of our full day camps! Get Fit on the Lake!
All classes held at Lake Norman Community Sailing Center at Blythe Landing. All sessions are for ages 12 to adult; under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Register now for single-date, 90-minute classes on Saturday or Sunday mornings, June-September. All classes are coed and offered in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. All classes: $36/$30 RD

Stand Up Paddleboarding Beginner Lessons: Stand up paddleboarding is one of the fastest growing recreational activities offering the perfect blend of fitness and FUN! Paddleboarding can be a great workout or just a way to explore the lake. Either way, you need to know the proper technique. Bring your friends and join us for a great time.
| Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga: Want to elevate your yoga practice and have fun in the sun doing it? How about yoga, on a paddleboard, on the lake!? Greatly improve your balance, refine your asana form, and allow the lake waves to rock tension out of your body. Some SUP experience is needed to take these SUP yoga classes. |
Intro to Flat Water Kayaking: This class is designed for those with little to no experience kayaking on calm water. After spending time in the classroom and on the water, you will leave with the skills and knowledge to enjoy this fun water sport safely!

All Ages Pickleball: Outdoors at Robbins Park and Torrence Chapel Park, with designated times seven days each week. Please note: Tuesdays and Thursdays at Robbins Park have changed back to 5-8pm.
Open Gym Senior Pickleball is held on Wednesday nights, 6-8pm, indoors at JV Washam Recreation Center. Ages 50 & up. Free.

Tennis Lessons: Youth and adult lessons are available year-round with Lake Norman Tennis Academy. Pay by the month.

Try Play: Designed to let adult players learn the ins and outs of playing a match. Ideal for Try Tennis graduates and other beginner tennis players that have very little match play experience. Register for the next session on Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 14-23, 6:30-8pm, Bailey Road Park. Cost is $75.
For adult beginner players with a USTA rating of 2.5 or lower, or with no rating, take the next step in your tennis journey: Rally Rookies. This program is intended to get you out on the tennis courts with a fun experience, getting comfortable moving around the court and hitting lots of balls. 90-minute sessions are held on Monday evenings or Tuesday mornings at Bailey Road Park tennis courts in May. Each session is $20 and you can register for as many as you’d like!

Whether you bike to work or school, ride to save money or time, pump the pedals to preserve your health or the environment, or cycle as a way to explore our greenways and trails, National Bike Month is an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons to enjoy it, so get out and ride! Our Emerald Necklace provides opportunities for biking year round. | 2024 Mayor's Fitness Challenge: Help Cornelius take back the title of Fittest Community! The challenge started in April, but you can still register anytime through May 12. Each week, participants will work to have the highest total of active minutes. Joining is free; registration is required. | Spring is in the air and days are getting warmer! Bridge
