Think Like A Leader: Ryan Evans, VP at Border States Electric, truly believes “there has never been a better time to be in the electrical industry.” As VP for Construction Solutions, Ryan works closely with owners, GMs, contractors, and manufacturers to ensure the best possible solutions for each project. He told ELECTRI about the importance of understanding the goals of those around you to help ensure success for all. Here’s his full Think Like a Leader conversation with ELECTRI.

We can’t wait to see you all again at our next ELECTRI Council meeting in La Quinta, CA, January 15th - 17th, 2025!

Make a difference and volunteer for a research task force. At the recent Council meeting, the ELECTRI Council voted to fund the following projects:

  • Forecasting Absenteeism in the Electrical Construction Industry Through Historical Data Analysis and Proactive Employee Engagement -with researcher Ashrant Aryal
  • Examining the 4x10 Work Week: Benefits, Challenges, and Data Insights – with researcher Hala Nassereddine
  • Managerial Strategies for Improving Project Level Cash Flow and Payment Terms -with researcher John Killingsworth

If you or someone from your organization like to join a task force for one of the research projects, click here to SIGN UP or please reach out to Amanda Harbison at Amanda@electri.org if you have any questions on the responsibilities of a task force member.

Volunteer to be a judge at the oral presentations of the ECIC. The finals will be held in person at the NECA Convention in San Diego on Saturday, September 28th from 1:30 – 3:30. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet the students and see what are sure to be impressive presentations. To volunteer or for more information, please contact Anna Jochim at Anna.Jochim@electri.org

Research Help Needed:

  • Risk Logs – do you have examples of risk logs that you are willing to share? We need risk logs/ performance matrix of subcontractors in IPD projects. Please email amanda@electri.org.

  • Cost of Inexperience and Schedule Compression: Construction inexperience impacts how projects are delivered in terms of schedule, cost, and quality. With the changing workforce and increasing opportunities to move into new markets, we need to understand how to leverage and capture our collective construction knowledge to collaboratively build solutions for the future. To explore our current challenges and opportunities, and to those who are willing to share their professional experience, please reach out Amelia Celoza (Amelia.Celoza@Colorado.edu) to schedule a 30-minute call.

Remember to check out ELECTRI’s NEW Research Engagement Hub and lend your expertise to our ongoing research projects.

ELECTRI appreciates your assistance with this research. If you have any questions about the research, please contact Amanda Harbison, ELECTRI’s Director of Research, at Amanda@electri.org.

Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention

It is an unfortunate fact that construction has the highest rate of suicide of any industry in America. We lose about 53 out of every 100,000 members of our industry EVERY YEAR to suicide. We are four times the average of other industries. We have a crisis in construction and we need to do something about it. You can visit the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention website and learn more. We urge all to take the pledge to STAND UP for suicide prevention and address it as a health and safety priority.
