Columbus Small Business Utility

Bill Assistance Program


Special emergency funding is available to eligible small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in the City of Columbus with city water, sewer, stormwater and/or power accounts that are having difficulty paying their utility bills or are at the point of disconnection.


This program offers a one-time matching grant of 50% of the past due amount of an eligible City of Columbus water, sewer, stormwater or power bill, up to a $5,000 maximum. Approved customers will receive a one-time credit on their account. Funding is limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here to apply online or view brochure with application.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), Office of Family Assistance, was approved through the State of Ohio Controlling Board and Legislative Appropriation to spend these federal stabilization relief funds. For more information, click here.

Meijer to Hold a Supplier Diversity Event in Search of

Diverse-Owned Merchandise Brands and Service Suppliers

March 29 - 31

 

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Meijer announced today that it will expand its third Supplier Diversity event to include diverse-owned service providers, as well as retail-ready products for its shelves. The March 29-31 event will give diverse-owned businesses nationwide the opportunity to showcase their offerings for interested Meijer buyers and procurement teams.


Diverse-owned brands with merchandise in the following retail categories can apply for the

event here:

  • Beauty and personal care
  • Over-the-counter and wellness
  • General merchandise
  • Grocery


Additionally, the retailer is accepting submissions from diverse-owned business service providers offering the following goods and services here:

  • Inbound transportation carriers
  • Skilled trades for construction and facility maintenance
  • All business services (Marketing, HR, IT and Financial)
  • Supplies, packaging, MRO and signage
  • Environmental, real estate and new site services
  • Store fixtures, manufacturing and warehousing equipment


Certified minority-, LGBTQ-, woman-, veteran- and disability-owned businesses with products or services in the listed categories can apply by Monday, Feb. 7 for consideration.

Education Program


When | Each Thursday thru March 3, 2022

Time | 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.


All DBEs are invited to attend a Bonding Education Program (BEP) brought to you by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Small Business Transportation Resource Center for the Great Lakes Region. The six-week course and will be held virtually. The Ohio BEP will help small and disadvantaged businesses to become bond ready, increase capacity, and ultimately compete for and participate on transportation-related contracts. This will be a great opportunity for those interested in learning more about contracting opportunities on transportation construction projects.

The Ohio Micro-Loan Program


Designed to stimulate the growth of new and existing MBE & WBE certified businesses, the program provides micro-loans at 0% interest. The loans range from $10,000 - $45,000. Loans will be repaid within five years for permanent working capital and seven years for equipment.

More Information

Women's Business Enterprise Loan Program


Designed to stimulate the growth of existing women-owned businesses by providing loans at market rate or below market rate interest (currently up to 3%). The minimum loan amount is $45,000 up to a maximum of $500,000. Loans will be repaid within 10 years for equipment and machinery and 15 years for owner-occupied real estate.
