2022 has been a year of change for DIG. We started the year celebrating 20 years as a nonprofit and looking back at all of the work we have done throughout the years.
As the year progressed, Matt was offered an amazing opportunity to become a clinical professor at NSU Law School and teach students how to do the work he has dedicated his life to. This is a wonderful transition for him that allows him to fulfill on of his dreams, to be a law professor, and to continue to the do the work that he loves. Matt will stay with DIG as the board president and will continue to guide our mission and vision. You can reach Matt by email at: mdietz@nova.edu.
With Matt’s departure, we decided to close the litigation department. Stephanie saw it as a great opportunity to re-open Langer Law, PA. She is going to focus on the rights of children and she has created an Education HelpLine for parents and families. You can reach Stephanie by email at: slanger@langerlawpa.com.
DIG is going to continue with our project and outreach. We expanded the wallet card project this year to include a version of the wallet card for caregivers. It has been very successful. We have already made over 300 caregiver cards this year. Next year, we hope to continue to expand the project with the addition of a digital wallet card. Stay tuned for more information as we finalize the details.
We will also continue our Miami Inclusion Alliance Project. This project looks at the intersection of disability and abuse. In 2023, we plan to work with our five liaisons and conduct trainings throughout the community. We want to share all of our work with our community partners. Look for dates/times for our trainings throughout next year.
We will also continue our work with the Access the Vote Florida, The Enable Project, Unite Miami, and our training/consulting on disability issues. Remember that you can apply for an accessibility and inclusion stipend from Radical Partners to work directly with us.
Lastly, we are so excited that Justine has formally joined the team. She will be taking over as the editor of our newsletter and will be guiding our social media outreach.
As we look forward to 2023, we can’t wait to explore new opportunities and partnerships.
We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and a happy new year.
Love,
Debbie and the DIG team
