President's Message by Jose Hernandez

Coca-Cola Florida

Happy Holidays! The Board would like to wish you and your families a happy and safe holiday season! We understand the commitment it takes to make a meaningful impact on Commercial Real Estate and appreciate all that you do for the organization and industry. This year we have a lot to celebrate as Tampa Bay continues to be a leader for Commercial Real Estate, Development, Leasing, and the migration of companies and its residents to our region is not slowing down. Spoiler alert, at our January meeting we will be discussing our market trends in various sectors with a great panel of experts, therefore you will not want to miss. With all this activity it is important that you take the opportunity to slow down and enjoy some time with your family and friends.

On November 3, 2022, BOMA Greater Tampa Bay hosted our annual TOBY Awards Gala. The event celebrated high performing properties and professionals. The event was filled with commemoratory, laughs, not in short of supply thanks to our emcee David Glickman. On behalf of this event, I would like to personally thank each member and their guests who attended the event for helping make this night a success and for cheering on your fellow colleagues. Six different properties received awards for their outstanding efforts and performance. In addition to our award-winning properties, we also celebrated our top performing professionals for Member of the Year in these following categories. Allied Member of the Year, Chris Ennest. Property Manager of the Year, Patrick Gehm. Engineer of the Year, Erik White and lastly the President’s Award Recipient, Ron Legare.

Furthermore, at the TOBY Gala on November 3rd, we swore in our new Board of Directors and Executive Committee. We are now proud to state we have five new Board members starting their initial two-year term on January 1, 2023. As with every Commercial Real Estate organization we know we will have some challenges ahead of us, but we also see endless opportunities. Our focus for BOMA Greater Tampa Bay in 2023 is to provide our members with best-in-class education, networking, and leadership opportunities in CRE. The Board is already hitting the ground running with great programing and networking opportunities for the first half of the year. We will continue to expand our programing for Emerging Professionals, revamp our educational offerings and Leadership Development programs. 2023 will be an exciting year for BOMA Greater Tampa Bay and you can expect outstanding collaboration between our new board members and veteran board members as we continue to focus on our membership experience. I hope you are as excited as we are!

I would like to take this moment to recognize my fellow Board of Directors, please take a moment to get to know them as well.

We can't wait to see you!
During the Board Planning Session, we decided to relax the rule of not handing out business cards, unless someone asks you for one. We do however ask that you use tact and common sense when meeting other members for the first time.
We will be hosting events at new venues in 2023, as well as some old favorites. You spoke and we listened. Plan on attending events at the JCC, Embarc Collective, Fat Beet Farm and Steinbrenner Field. We will be heading back to Derby Lane for our Poker for PAC (BOMA International's' Political Committee) in July. Please make sure you check the location before heading out.

Did you know that you can add our events to your calendar? We ask that you register first, then add it, so you don't forget the most important step, which is letting us know you'll be there.

Go to Events, select calendar from the drop down menu, click on the event, register now, then click the Add to Calendar button.

Are you paid up?
