Takeout Tuesday

Happy Takeout Tuesday Eastvale!

This week's Takeout Tuesday highlights Corky's Kitchen & Bakery, Wabi Sabi, and Pita Street!

As a city, it is important that we support our businesses, and what a better way to do that than to visit one of these local eateries? Corky's Kitchen and bakery is an American home-style restaurant that offers a variety of tasty entrees and fresh bakery items. Their pancakes, omelets, skillets, and burritos are some of the best in Eastvale! After breakfast head over to Wabi Sabi for their hand-cut sushi, delicious ramen, or some spicy curry. If home-style meals and Japanese food aren't your thing, head over to Pita Street for some Middle Eastern Cuisine! They create simple yet savory combination platters with fresh and healthy ingredients! You can even call ahead, pick it up, and take it home for a movie night at home!

General Plan Open House and EIR Scoping Meeting

Last week we welcomed so many members of the community to our General Plan Update Open House and Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Scoping Meeting where attendees provided valuable feedback and insight on the Eastvale 2040 Project.

Mayor Lorimore and Councilmember Plott attended the event to recognize advisory circle volunteers who have assisted the City on the project for the last several months and we even had a special kids corner that encouraged kids to build their "dream city" with building blocks!

It was a great event and we're proud of our Planning Division and the success of the meeting.

Riverside County Sheriff's Department Media Release

On August 17, 2022, deputies assigned to the City of Eastvale Special Enforcement Team worked jointly with the Riverside County Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) and the Riverside County Fire Department Hazardous Material Team, to serve a search warrant at a residence located in the 12000 block of Norwegian Street in Eastvale. The search warrant stemmed from an anonymous “We-Tip” providing information about Ronald Brett Lilly operating a highly explosive butane honey oil extraction laboratory from his residence.

Upon service of the search warrant, investigators located a volatile butane honey oil extraction laboratory. The laboratory needed to be depressurized and safely dismantled by specially trained personnel. Also located in the residence, were hazardous chemicals, several pounds of marijuana, a handgun, and several thousand dollars in cash. Lilly was subsequently arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for various felonies.

Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to call Deputy Cosper at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station by calling 951-955-2600.

As a reminder, “Community Policing” involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members. Business owners and residents are encouraged to report criminal activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or by calling 911 if the matter is an emergency. Criminal activity can also be reported through the We-Tip Crime Reporting Hotline, (909) 987-5005.

Monthly Traffic Safety Meeting Recap

Did you know that our Public Works team and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department meet each month to address traffic safety concerns?

You may be wondering how these meetings are different from Public Safety Commission Meetings, City Council Meetings, or typical City team meetings. These meetings allow RSO and Public Works to review concerns specifically from residents regarding traffic safety. Sometimes, traffic safety issues can be avoided with a quick fix or team meeting. These meetings help our team be aware of issues and address them as quickly as possible.

During this month's meeting, the team discussed repainting the Goodman striping behind Costco, cleaning up debris, speeding concerns, and exploring alternative routes near the school to alleviate congestion.

A big thank you to Public Works and RSO for meeting each month and a special thank you to our residents for keeping us informed so our community remains safe!

Monthly Traffic Safety Meeting Recap

City of Eastvale, Calif. – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department/Jurupa Valley Station will hold a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, August 19, 2022, from 7:00 pm to 4:00 am at an undisclosed location within the city limits.

Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI crashes and arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests, but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.

During the checkpoint, deputies will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The safety of our community is and always will be our mission. Driving under the influence is dangerous and puts a further strain on critical resources.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about “driving” or “operating heavy machinery,” which includes driving a vehicle. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.

If you plan on drinking or taking medications that may impact your ability to drive safely, plan on staying at home. Drivers charged with DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, reminding everyone to ‘Report Drunk Driver – Call 9-1-1’.

For media inquiries regarding this incident please contact the Media Information Bureau.
