EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION AT SEAFARER'S FRIEND | |
|
As the chair of the Seafarer's Friend Board of Directors I wanted to let you and my many TABCOM friends know about a ministry leadership opportunity that is now available. Our current executive director is retiring after several years of dedicated leadership and we have begun our search for a new executive director.
Seafarer's Friend serves the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the crews of cargo ships that enter the ports of Boston, Portsmouth, NH, Portland, and Searsport, ME. Our ministry began in 1827, providing opportunities for worship and fellowship to seafarers visiting our local ports.
Since that time our ministry has grown to include transportation to local shops and attractions, providing sim cards so seafarers can contact family in their home countries, shopping services for those who cannot leave their ships, and coordination with advocacy agencies for emergency assistance to seafarers. Most recently we have been able to provide covid vaccines for seafarers who are unable to leave their ships.
The vast majority of the seafarers that we serve come from countries outside the United States, particularly Asia and Eastern Europe, so the executive director should be drawn to ministry for a diverse population.
Please take a moment to review the attached posting and if you know anyone who you feel would be inspired by this opportunity please send this to them.
If you have any questions, please contact me at the email or phone number listed below.
Blessings,
John Mulloy
